Carroll Dawson broke up the Rockets, a mix of veterans and young players, to sign Charles "Fatass" Barkley. An incredibly stupid thing to do.

Barkely's best skill has always been running his mouth.

    Definitely!!

The worse thing about the older Barkley with the Rockets was he still had some game, but only when he wanted to make the effort. The local sports media here made a big deal out of the outstanding game he played against Jordan & the Bulls (y'all can look up the stats if you want, I don't). My question was, Where was this effort in the other 81 games? Mind you I didn't expect him to play like a 25 year old in every game, but that game showed that he wasn't making the effort he could have made.

IMO Barkley's mouthing off, lack of conditioning coming into training camp, select & limited efforts, etc. were poison to the Rockets.

Back to the present. I don't know which team to root for, Warriors or Cavaliers. I like underdogs, and both teams qualify, in different ways.

Kyrie Irving is done for the year, broken kneecap.

  8. As talented as LeBron is, something inside me wants him to lose. Am i the only one that wants to see him cry again?

He is having an epic series. There is really almost nothing you could reasonably expect him to do better. His shooting percentage could be higher, but it is being held down because of the volume of shots he HAS to take for his team to have a chance. Despite his phenomenal greatness, he is not a pure scorer like Jordan. He is more of a facilitator/scorer like Magic. His teams are at their best when he scores in the mid/low 20s at a very efficient rate, and he can draw the defense to allow his other teammates to also have efficient offensive opportunities. The problem here is that, aside from a very streaky JR Smith, and a match-up challenged Mazgov, neither of which are reliable #2 scorers, there are no REAL options. So even his reduced FG% I don't really put on his head too much.

HOWEVER, I am rooting against him. I get frustrated with his whining and complaining about contact all the time, and how at the merest slap he reacts like he was shot in the head in an attempt to get the call. I don't like that his team knocked out my Bulls. And I have really grown to like the Warriors. Curry and Klay are so fun to watch. I've really liked Steve Kerr ever since his playing days. It's fun to watch a new, young, powerhouse of a team and try to figure out if they can start to establish a new dynasty. Somewhere in the back of my mind is the idea that the less Lebron wins, the more Jordan's legacy of the greatest of all time is kept safe from him..........so I don't really have any hate for Lebron. And I would almost argue he should still get the MVP (especially were it to go 7 games and the Warriors win) in a loss. But, GO WARRIORS!! :D

Congrats to the Warriors. Fun team to watch, and I think Iggy probably deserved the MVP for his all around contributions, including on defense. What a series for fans.

As I previously posted both teams were "underdogs" but if different ways.

Congrats to the Warriors for their breaking their 39 year drought (their last NBA title was in 1975)!

I don't see Lebron passing Jordan on the legacy part personally. He is and will leave quite a mark after he is retired but as you said he is a different type of player than Jordan.

The time difference really screwed me over during this series. All the games were 03:00 AM my time which meant I would some Facebook ar Twitter comment about the result before I could go back and watch the recorded game in the evening. Also, fewer Sunday afternoon games meant I only watched one game live. But enough belly-aching...

I was backing the Warriors from the start of the playoffs. A really fun team to watch, they seem to want to play for each other which is great. Steph Curry made me jump outta my seat every time he hit one of those stepback 3's and I gotta say that the supporting cast was excellent too. I'm not the biggest LeBron fan, if I'm honest. I knew that if Cleveland won, there'd be a lot of "Look at me, I went to Cleveland and won them the NBA title" and that would piss me off. He just gives me the feeling that he's always looking for a way to put the I in team.
