No, that's the first time I've been to the cheap theatre. The main theatre here is something like $10 a ticket, more if you go to a midnight show. I did see Prometheus for free, though.

You know what I thought of while I was sitting there, nomming on popcorn? You just went to CANADA, and you're hating on me for seeing a movie twice. I'll trade ya, eh?

Toronto is really no great shakes and I'm from there. The prim and proper section is pretty. Lakefront is meh. The suburban sprawl--get on Missisauga Rd. for example, is uglier than anything of the same age I've seen in the U.S--the highrises were a horrible error. I'd totally take Chicago over TO.

 

IIRC, tickets were like $17 a piece. Which feels like sexual assault.

Then you've got the liter of diet cola because I can't be asked to not drink something for an hour and a half.

Then you've got Junior Mints for the woman because she loves junk food.

So, yeah, it adds up. Cost of living where I'm at.

 

Yeah, you guys are right. It's totally silly to be envious of someone traveling to other countries while I'm sitting in a small-town theatre watching a second-run movie.

Not as painful as realizing I could have had $8 unlimited Netflix over a year ago.

SUPER IMPORTANT:

I'm eating turkey, chicken AND tuna for dinner tonight. All on one plate. It's fantastic.

Nothing makes me feel more at the top of the food chain than eating 3 different species.

Oh sweetie, I feel left out, too. Next summer I'm throwing a TFP Labour/Labor day weekend bash at my cottage in Ontario. It's a 2.5 hour drive from Toronto so anyone who wants to city-trip can do so and the rest of us can be silly (read: get drunk and not drive) to our heart's content. You can stay in my cottage or set a tent up/ park your vehicle on the 12 acres we have or get a room in town (there are B&B's/resorts and farther south, maybe 45 mins Motel 6-type places, too).

I wanted to finish some renovating this and next summer and committing to having people come up is great incentive. We have the amenities (one full bathroom and one half). The lake is super-clean. I don't have a motorboat but do have a canoe and rowboat, you can fish, hike, bike--whatever your pleasure. If someone wants to motor boat or use a personalized watercraft you can rent 'em 3.5 miles away and bring 'em over. We have cable TV and high speed Internet and now I sound like I'm selling something. Just wrangle up enough to fly into Toronto and we'll come pick you up. Everyone is invited.

 

Ooh, Fangirl , I am totally in. And I am totally bringing my tent.

Going to have the bed to myself for 2 nights in a row.

Nope. I'm totally scared of that stuff. Zombies are cool and aliens but humans? Oi. terrifying.

 

Look. I'm not feeling left out. I don't equate Canada with, say, Aruba. But for some reason, this week has been one long litany of, "the things you like/the music you listen to/the places you want to visit, suck!" It gets wearing after a while.


In other news, I just went out and kicked the lawn's ass.

 

Oh, sorry! Toronto proper (vs. the GTA) is the best city in the world. Not being sarcastic. I was just trying to make myself feel better that they held their meet up exactly one week before I leave to go to the cottage.
