May just be me, but that's a horrible way to start your participation in this forum.

Mostly because you wrote Charlie Chaplin wrong, and you came to a really bad conclusion based on your misspelling. Nice work.

Either way, I really like Charlie Chaplin... but my all-time favorite comedians are Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) and Eddie Murphy.

    Also... welcome to the TFP!

Of all time? I always have trouble committing to these sorts of things.

I am a big Three Stooges fan but also really like Laurel and Hardy and Chaplin. More contemporary, I really like the work of Jerry Lewis (and I'm not even French!).

Oh dear god, I hope you don't mean this idiot:

    The Adventures of Charlie Champion

Because if you're here to shill for his moronic ass, I'll ban you just for being associated with that kind of stupidity.

But maybe Remixer is right and you mean Charlie Chaplin. Sure, he's funny. I'd say The Three Stooges and the guys in Monty Python are up there too. And Eddie Murphy back in the day could read the phone book and get lots of laughs.

Oh wow, you found a matching result. I googled Charlie Champion before I wrote my post but couldn't find a match.

In a way, neither did you. :D

Leslie Nielsen. Guy wasn't putting out masterpieces, but always had me in stitches.

Honorable mention goes to Rodney Dangerfield for being the dirty uncle I never had.

  10. I thought Ted Knight was a great comedic actor. Also, John Candy. He was so good.

On a old-school note, Abbott & Costello (HEY, Abboooooot!!!....)
    And I love Lucy. ;)
Carol Burnett's show (OMG, Tim Conway's old man :D)

Ahhhhhhhhhh ... I had a Childhood Crush on her ... and 7 year-old jealous pre-pubescent rages directed at Desi Arnez.

Oh .... and I just remembered another couple of my favourites:
    Sandra Bernhard
    Catherine Tate

Hmmmm - I don't like Whoopie Goldberg, because, imo, she pushes the 'please like me' button too often - kind of Disneyfies herself - BUT, apart from that I reckon she's dang good.

Who's on First was the first routine I ever memorized. Abbott and Costello's timing was impeccable.

    Third base!

I really dislike playing faborititis, (italian slang for <3) so I'm going unconventional here: (w/ honorable mentions)

Daffy Duck (especially when tandem-featured with Porky Pig).

    then there was...
The Marx Brohiem (Chico, Harpo, Groucho and Zeppo)
    Imogene Fernandez de Coca
    Alfred Hitchcock
    The League of Gentlemen
    Patrice O'Neal
    Rich Vos
    Natasha Leggero

If I would be allowed, I'd like to modernize the spin of this thread to include the comedy band called the Upright Citizens' Brigade.
I have no idea what any of the members are called, except to say there are probably around a dozen of them, and their influence has helped craft at least one of your favourite sitcoms on various networks and in a variety of integrations (Children's Hospital, The League, Party Down, Community, and some others, I'm sure).

    extra bit:
This thread idea, while simple and re-issued, is great; and it is still one of those ones I have on my shelf (but my incarnation involves more youtube-mining-&-sharing than anything else).
Maybe I'll use it as an impetus to move forward. Hey.

First one that came to my mind, Peter Sellers. I did just watch Strangelove but all of his movies are enjoyable.
