The guy beside was reading AFoC and I started talking to him about Dance. She told me once I was being loud and then threaten to punch me in the face if I didn't shut up. This was still while we were at the gate, not mid-flight. She turned back around and started ranting about "having to work in the morning". It was just a weird moment. Lady had issues.

Watching the Olympic trials this weekend, I was reminded of 2008 and the American Family Association's news site, OneNewsNow, that had an auto-replace feature on AP news feed and replaced words not acceptable to its audience. Gay being replaced with the word homosexual was one such rule.

Why is the gaming community so upset with the Mass Effect 3 ending? I can't be the only one that enjoyed how the game ended. When a character says "If we make it out of this, we should hang out, drink a few beers and talk about good times." is interpreted is "We are all going to die and there is no way we are going to survive this."

 

Are gritty, brutal endings more artistic? I'm seeing the "everybody dies; that's drama" trend. I mean, it's like how Battlestar Galactica ended.

It left you going: I just white-knuckled through four seasons with these highly-developed characters and you're tossing them in the gutter!

Oh, c'mon, man! This bullshit where they toss everything in the trash to go fuck cave people and farm... I don't friggin' buy it. Humans with shitty technology always do two things: fight wars and get better technology. History being what it is, we might as well skip the swords and arrows and see what comes after laser guns. The BSG reload is probably the most memorable show I've ever watched, mostly because of the superb acting and partly because of the trainwreck ending. That and the whole All Along the Watchtower thing.

The way the end of the game was headed (destroy all the advanced civilizations and repeat the scenario in the next cycle), I expected everyone to fucking die and if they didn't then I would have been disappointed. At the end of the game, I was given two choices (I didn't install the DLC just because the stupid gaming community were being a bunch of bitches about how the game ended): Destroy or control the AI/VI/repears/geth. And since Commander Shepard was severely injured while most of his squad members were killed before getting to the transporter beam, and his primary mission was to destroy the repears and save Earth, I chose to destroy the repears..
