    I'm down to 227.4 lbs as of this morning. So approaching 20 lbs lost this year. Woot. I've started taking jiu jitsu, have bought a bike and still lift and do cardio at the gym at least twice a week.. Not only am I lighter, I'm also a crap load more tired to boot. I'm hoping my old body gets used to the extra load soon.

    Hell yeah. Good stuff, brother.

    Protip: The best recovery plan involves working out like a beast, downing your protein of choice with an 800mg Advil and then drinking yourself into a coma on the couch while watching Law & Order reruns. It also helps if you're independently wealthy and have no children to occupy your time.

    Sounds like a good plan, especially the Advil. I do have a kid, but she's not a big time hog. She's got stuff she likes to do. I also bought her a bike, so we can ride together.

    I'll keep the booze to myself though.

    If you don't have a scrip for 800mg, you can take 4 of the OTC Advil. We used to call them "Ranger Candy"

    Also, your drink of choice matters. So when you drink yourself into oblivion, as per Plan9's expert advice, use red wine (reservatrol helps prevent atheroschlerosis), dark beer (good source of antioxidants) or a fine scotch (no fucking idea, mate, but it'll get the job done...)

    Oh, I meant take 4x 200mg OTC ibuprofen.

    "Fort Bragg Pez" is hardly something you need to waste time trying to acquire when downing four liquigels works just as well.

    Wine is horrible, horrible stuff and never mixes well with physical activity. Hangovers like crazy.

    Stick to Jasper Juice or equiv. Mix two/three shots with 12 oz. Diet Coke for extra awesomeness.

    I hear that. My diet's been pretty strictly fruits, veggies, grains and protein since I've been out west. I suspect there will be more cookies incorporated into the diet once the family joins me.

    Fortunately, the new job has in house fitness classes. I started on Tuesday and I could feel and see my heartbeat in my eyes. It's getting easier though.

    When I first moved here, I lost about 30 pounds on the, No Crap Food in the House Diet. Once joined with the rest of the family, I put about half of that back on again.

    Fitness classes are good. My wife has access to them at her school. My office is a lot more bare bones.

    That sounds about right. At this point I'd take being chubby with the family over skinny without the family 6.99 days of the week.

    That was my first month away. The only problem was that I didn't have $$ or a car. Aside from the lack of NSA sexual escapades, I've totally been living the dream.

    Well, it finally happened. My SO and I have always lamented at the exorbitant cost of taking martial arts classes here. However, we have found a place within walking distance. It's a hapkido studio that also teaches kickboxing classes. We both signed up for unlimited kickboxing classes over six months at about half the price of most martial arts places. To help cover the cost, I'm going to stop going out for lunch and/or a latte, which I normally do once or twice per week.

    The kickboxing classes are more fitness oriented than instructional/training oriented, but they do have sparring once per week. The hapkido classes cost a bit more but certainly not as much as most places.

    This place is a small no frills studio above a mattress store. They're very nice and approachable. I did a drop-in class today before signing up. It was a heck of a workout, and I couldn't keep up. I look forward to getting up to speed and getting into the swing of things.

    I'm already feeling stiff in my calves, upper back, lower back, abs, and shoulders. My cardio is my weakest link at the moment. I had to stop periodically to catch my breath. I absolutely got my ass kicked.

    It's a lot of fun! The style is pretty much Muay Thai.

    I'm down to summer weight, about 147 lbs.
    Winter I get up to 152-153.
    I crank up my cycling in the summer and start losing weight, and usually feel a period of fatigue when I get to the 147-148 range.
    Then I level off my activity, the fatigue goes away, and I'm a stronger rider minus the 5 lbs.

    It's unfortunate you good folks in North America don't have easy access the kangaroo meat. I've been eating a lot more of it lately and my god it makes a difference to how I feel.

    I choose roo meat for a lot of reasons 1)It's cheaper than beef 2) Because the animals are culled from the wild, it's the most organic meat you'll ever get here 3)It tastes awesome, seriously, even the low grade meat is orgasmic 4) It's about 98% percent fat free and extremely high in iron, mind you, I'm very comfortable eating animal fat, I strongly believe it doesn't affect my health, though I should point I do a lot of physical exercise 5) It's a safe meat that keeps for ages. Like I more or less eat the shit raw and have never gotten sick.

    Any how, if you ever find yourselves down under, try it!

    Sounds like venison(deer) in NA. Wild game just taste different, Kangaroo's are cute so I don't think I would try.:eek:

  19. I hate treadmills. But sometimes there are no other choices. Will be in a hotel for 3 nights this week. Treadmill in my future.

    I entered in the first race of the CX cycling series and managed to not completely suck at it. I'm been doing a lot more riding to train up for the races and my legs are definitely getting stronger. Cardio endurance still needs work though. Though am near that fine line where if I push my legs any harder I'm likely to wind up with an injury, so been carefull about when to take rest days.

    Getting up at 4:30am to train is rough work though, don't think I'm going to get used to that, ever. But boy howdy am I getting solid sleep now.

    And the high fruit and veg diet is still doing wonders. I've found with this level of exercise I've been able to get away with eating pretty fatty food couple of times a week without putting on any weight.
