I just finished Limbo after putting more time into it than I probably should have over the past few days. I really enjoyed it -- the puzzles are challenging without being impossible or illogical.

Limbo and Bastion create an interesting contrast in terms of aesthetics and narrative style.

    They're both fantastice games.

I love the simplicity of Limbo. Not in the puzzles, of course (they're quite challenging), but in the story and graphics. It's very pretty in its simplicity.

As for Bastion, the world it lays out is stunning. I was very skeptical about its appearance after watching the preview, but I can definitely see why people go on about it. The music is also very good.

I also gave Amnesia a quick try this morning, but after only moments of playing, I decided to take the developers' word for it and save this game for when it's dark. I'm excited to go through that one.

oh and it made me install my xbox 360 controller that has been sitting here. I bought one last year, then gave it to Zweiblumen. I bought another for me, but still didn't install it, until Limbo.

the way super meat boy really shines is if you use a controller. the keyboard just doesn't cut it because you have a lot more control over moving him around in the air with a controller. if you have an xbox or ps3 controller, there's an emulator that lets you use them on your pc called motionjoy. of course it all depends on taste but i am liking bastion more with a controller as well.

Windows users don't even need an emulator for a 360 controller. There are native drivers available.

yeah I don't know why I didn't open this sooner. It's so much better to Need for Speed and get good track times.

I'm still getting the hang of using it in Need for Speed but I was surprised that track/lap times improved by upgrading the video card.
    PS: Thanks Cyn

And now the Humble Indie Bundle 5 has ended. It ended up with over 600 000 purchases totalling over $5M. I'm not sure how they're going to top this with the next one, though I'll be interested in seeing them try.

Yes indeed, Humble Indie Bundle 6 went on sale today and is already at 117 000 sales. Here's the promo video:

It's a nice mix of different game styles this time around. The big draw in terms of popularity is going to be Torchlight, but the others are definitely worth checking out. S.P.A.Z. is an awesome space sim with lots of customizeable ships that you control in your very own fleet battles. Oh, yeah, and there are zombies. Shatter is in the style of Breakout (ball, paddle, blocks to break) but would be more accurately called an evolution of Breakout than a Breakout clone. Dustforce is a neat little precision platformer requiring you to figure out the fastest way to clear levels of dirt and dust and old leaves. I don't really know much about Vessel or Rochard yet, but I understand they're both puzzle platform style games -- Rochard incorporates gravity manipulation, while Vessel has "intelligent fluids," whatever that signifies. I'm looking forward to getting acquainted with both. Um, eventually.

Perhaps not the must-buy that was HIB 5, but still a great collection of games at a great price and well worth the purchase. Note that the current average is only $5.69, so if you get in now you can have them all and whatever else gets added for less than a buck each. That's pretty hard to argue with.

This one looks just about as good as the last one.

Kind of confuses me that Dustforce is the incentive game, though. Maybe it's just me, but Torchlight and S.P.A.Z. seem like much more enticing reasons to spend the average than that game.

True to form, the Humble Indie Bundle 6 has added four new games. Beat the average, and in addition to the games mentioned above you'll get Bit.Trip Runner, Gratuitous Space Battles, Jamestown and Wizorb. The average has now skyrocketed to $5.93, so you're going to have to pay a whole $6 for ten games.

debated over posting this in general itself, but thought i'd just put it here. now the humble folk have put together an e-book collection. it looks to be all fantasy scifi, but that's probably a smart demo to target pc gamers with. like the game bundles you pay what you want and divvy it up between authors and charity, but if you beat the average which at this time is ~12 bucks, you get a neil gaiman graphic novel and another bonus book...

highjinx: Since it's not about HIB 5 anymore, would you be okay with me editing the title of this thread?

I'm not sure how I feel about Humble Android Bundle 4 yet. Machinarium and Crayon Physics look cool. I'll probably end up picking it up, but right now I'm waiting to see what gets added.
