hey this is just a headsup. i just got in on it. if you don't know about these bundles, they've been doing them a couple years now and they're pretty cool. you donate whatever $ amount you want through amazon or paypal, and then you get several indie games either directly downloaded or a steam key if you prefer. there are also sliders to adjust the proportions of where your money goes between the devs and the kids charity.

usually they have 1 or 2 cherries amongst some riffraff, but this one is all AAA titles... there's limbo, amnesia, psychonauts (by double fine's shafer), and if you beat the avg which is as of now ~7.50, you get bastion.

    enjoy...

This is pretty awesome. I've tried the Limbo demo on PS3, and it's fantastic. If these were on PSN, I'd consider it. I've stopped buying PC games due to performance issues.

hmm you might be ok w/ an older pc. these are all lower intensive games. only amnesia is 3d i think and it's a lot older. pretty sure if conan is working for you this will.

Regardless, my system is aging, and it's Windows Vista. It's done some weird shit even with simple utilities and other small programs.

It's unpredictable performance-wise, and I don't have the patience or the money to do anything to get it running as it should. It probably needs a good reformatting. I've never done that before, and I don't see why I should start now. I should probably also be running Windows 7, but, again, it's a cost I'm not ready to commit to.

yea, at this point if i were you i would just save up and drop 4 or 500 on a new W7 desktop when you can. thats what i did a year ago and i haven't looked back.

having said that, you could donate a dollar or even a penny and try these out and if they work you can come back and add more a donation and if not, not. but i digress.

Thanks for the heads up! Downloading them now through Steam. Love Schafer, "what's this Li-nux?" Really looking forward to Limbo and Psychonauts.

cool! i just tried limbo last night and it blew my fucking mind. the animation and atmosphere is such a mix of creepy and rainy-day-awesome. i got stuck a few scenes in and am trying to resist a walkthrough. can't wait to try psychonauts too... i played the much of the underrated Brutal Legend game w/ Jack Black by Schafer a few years ago and LOVED that.

Awesome. I donated $10 for now, will probably throw more their way next paycheck. I've been wanting to try Amnesia for a while, and this is the perfect opportunity.

I was just coming to update the thread with that info (re: Braid, Super Meat Boy and Lone Survivor).

Seriously, if you have a PC you have no excuse not to buy this. All you have to do to get all 8 games is beat the average payment (currently $8). I would and did pay nearly twice that for Bastion alone, and considered it a bargain at that price. Braid, Super Meat Boy, Psychonauts are well worth $8 of your hard earned cash.

Man, I might have to donate again for the rest of the bunch! Unfortunately I'm having video issues with Psychonauts. Was playing fine, then went to sign back in and it's hung up, can't make it past the opening screen.

Hmm... I was contemplating getting this before the other three games were added, but now I think I'm totally sold.

I've talked to a few friends and heard nothing but rave reviews on almost all of these games. Seems like an awesome deal.

Hell, I owned half the games in the bundle already and I still bought it for $15 and called it a bargain.

Seriously, all eight games, and if you just beat the current average you're getting them for a dollar a piece. I will make my personal, 100% money-back guarantee* that you will love Bastion. It's 2011 game of the year in my opinion.

There is no possible way you can lose here.

How do you get these games once you have purchased them?

After you've made your purchase, you'll get an email in your inbox. It contains a download URL. From there you can choose to download the games directly, or download them via torrent for your platform of choice. The link will also include Steam keys for the games. Open up your Steam client, click the "Add A Game" button in the bottom left and choose "Activate A Product On Steam" from the pop-up menu.

I went ahead and bought it.

So far I have tried Limbo and Super Meat Boy.

I don't know how much I like Super Meat Boy. I can't seem to get the controls down very well.

Limbo, on the other hand, took up a good few hours of my night. I can see myself banging my head on my keyboard in blissful frustration for many nights to come on that game. It is quite fun.

That's actually kind of the point.

Think of Super Meat Boy like the old school 8 bit action platformer games. We're talking Contra, or 8 bit Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The frustration is half the fun.
