Please stop interferring in my plans to reintroduce 1920's slang to America. Get on the trolley, ok?

    ...

Aren't all pies crust-on-the-bottom? Otherwise, it's cobbler or some other kind of dessert.

    No, like... crust-on-the-bottom-but-not-on-the-sides.

Hell, I don't know. I had a pumpkin pie like that once.

mmmm, cobbler. I like cobbler, too. Especially blackberry.

I forgot about sweet potato pie. Yummy. That's definitely in the top five.

    Bumbleberry?

That sounds like something you tell a clumsy kid to stop eating when you're in 3rd grade.

I think it's what you CALL the clumsy kid when you're in 3rd grade.

I've never had a pie that didn't have crust on the sides. Like I said before, it seems like a part of the definition of "pie" to me. But I'm as culinarily illiterate as you are.

I love pumpkin pie... pumpkin anything, really. Otherwise, I'm not a big fan of pie - though every once in awhile I like key lime, or peanut butter pie. And depending on who makes it, apple pie.

  9. I'm surprised that it took 19 posts for someone to say this. I am NOT surprised by who said it.

Pumpkin pie is my favorite, but I also like banana, apple and lemon meringue.

  10. I love pie. Cherry is by far my favorite, followed by apple and blueberry. I prefer fruit pies to cream pies, but there's nothing wrong with a good slice of banana cream or cherry chocolate cream. I won't eat key lime, lemon meringue, mince, or pecan pie because they are disgusting. Pumpkin is meh - I might eat a slice at Thanksgiving if it's the only thing available, but since I started bringing the pies a couple of years ago there is always apple or chocolate cream. MMMMMM pie.

Key lime and lemon meringue. Pecan is good but a little too sweet.

I used to be a fan of French Silk, but dietary restrictions have forced me to cut it out completely.

  17. I'll never get to have my favorite pie... mom's lemon meringue. Every other I've had can't match the the combination of sweet/tart or the texture of the meringue.

I'll take a good Dutch Apple, though, please.

I had such a ridiculously delicious pie at a restaurant (North Side Bistro) in the US Virgin Islands that I would almost return for that alone. Seriously. Their pastry chef based it on the Derby pie, but his version was loaded with gooey chocolate and walnuts in the richest crust imaginable. My mouth is salivating at the prospect of tasting it again.

Aside from that singular experience, I am particularly fond of key lime, pumpkin, blackberry, and cherry.

I am posting this recipe here so that I never lose it. From: http://www.washingtonian.com/blogarticles/restaurants/bestbites/13832.html

I made it for Thanksgiving a couple of years ago and got huge compliments. It is THAT delicious.
