Ha, sorry, her mind is pretty much constantly in the gutter. Which is why she's my BFF, 'cause mine is too.

Anyway, I'm a server. I put up with shit all night, with a smile on my face. One of these days I'm going to snap and unleash bitter sarcasm on every table that comes in, but luckily, that wasn't tonight.

Finally have the chance to babysit one of the cutest kids in the WORLD...and I have to work. Damn it, damn it, damn it. It wouldn't even really be babysitting, the kid and I would just play with Legos and sidewalk chalk for three hours. :(

As someone who eats out a ton because of my travels for work, I can tell you that I ABSOLUTELY appreciate a good server.

And no one is better at playing with LEGOS than me. NO ONE.

Just got back from a team meeting for our hospital.
And have been reminded of how irritating it is for people in corporate to meddle around in the business on the ground when they have no idea what it's like down there. I know, because I've worked both sides. People sitting in offices with bright ideas very often don't have a fucking clue what they're talking about.

And you are going to ruin it with a Cubs game?

I'd had a very long night. I'm usually pretty okay with my job :) And I don't know, man, I'm pretty kickass at LEGOS.

When I was a kid, I had a 5-gallon bucket AND a 3-gallon bucket full of LEGOS. About 6-7 years ago I went back to my parents' house and asked about them because I wanted them. My mom had given them away to a friend's kid! :(

Not Stanley. He'll sleep in until 11am or after if we let him. I swear he is all bladder and head.

I guess a 4 mile jog is better than sitting on the couch all day, right?

I was visiting a friend from college one weekend at his childhood home, and he asked me if I wanted to help him look in the attic for his childhood LEGOS; he needed them for a project. I agreed, and asked what kind of container we were looking for. A Rubbermaid tub, he said. I naturally assumed a small one. When he found the LEGOS, I looked over to see they were in one of those huge tubs. 18 gallons of LEGOS is a lot!

We didn't have a lot of Legos growing up, just a few batches we got here and there. My thing was Tinkertoys. I loved them. Only so much you could do with those, though.

When I was around 13, I was re-introduced to Legos by a friend's set. You could make cars and motorcycles out of it, and it came with gears a rubberbands.
Those were cool as hell, but somehow, weren't in the same spirit as regular brick Legos.
I think I'd just like a big bucket of regular Legos now. See what I can come up with. (probably a big brick, but it would be fun)

You can buy Legos by the pound on Ebay. We have some at our house for when friends' kids come over. All of them, and my nephews, absolutely love them.

Several years ago I thought about collecting some of the Star Wars sets. For a year or so I would buy them here and there, some of them I put together, others I left in the box. Even the ones I put together I saved the box and instructions. When we decided to get Stanley I put them all on Ebay and sold most of them for about twice what I'd paid (since by then they were discontinued sets). I made about $1300-1400, which is basically the money we used to buy him. :)

    Japchae Very Tilted

25 pages left to write, a chile-and-beer-braised-brisket to make (tomorrow),
big pot of chili to make (today) and my man starts off my day by making me
pancakes from scratch with Fresh Market link breakfast sausages and real maple syrup.
I made the free-trade organic Kenyan coffee.
Leo Kottke/Rodrigo y Gabriella/Jesse Cook radio on Pandora and I'm off to
the grocery store to get the necessaries... he's also making chocolate cookies from scratch
for friends and coworkers. Then to write this damn paper while the chili makes the house
    smell awesome.

Eight years ago this week, I met this man. I've never regretted the meeting.

My neighbor is currently edging my yard for me in exchange for the ribs I gave him last week. It's an awesome mutually beneficial relationship. :p
