I got a good portion of what I needed to get done today done. Not too shabby if I do say so myself.

They're going to cut my kid's neck open and remove a lymph node or 8. There's a 2.5 cm x 1.5 cm mass. It's indicative of leukemia, but there are no other symptoms, so I guess that's good. It's also indicative of TB, but he tested negative for that.

Either way, general anesthesia and they're operating right next to his jugular and the nerve that controls his shoulder and hand. Yippee.

Damn, jazz. That's gotta be hard to take in. Almost good news and bad news in one.
    Just know we're pulling for y'all, the_jazz.

Ugh, wish both you and especially him the best. Hopefully they can get it out safely and it turns out to be benign.

I thought March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb? Seems more like a lion right now. It's wickedly windy today.

  6. Whoa. Been there with my son. He had a biopsy of the lymph glands under one arm. I will never forget sitting in the surgeon's office and hearing him tell us he needed to perform the biopsy to rule out lymphoma. I think time stood still for a little while as I processed that. Fortunately for us, it all turned out well. Hope this goes as well, also.

My newish neighbors behind me (the only neighbor I have within 2-3 house of any direction that isn't nearly ideal as a neighbor) should not be allowed to own a dog.

When they moved in last year they had a little yappy furball. The first week they were there, before anyone had met them, they chained it up in their backyard all day 2-3 days in a row. The yard faces west, so it was in the sun all afternoon, with no shade. They gave it no water. The 2nd and 3rd days it was over 80*, maybe over 90*, I can't remember specifically. It sat there in the heat, and went ballistic with it's yapping any time there was any sort of movement in the neighborhood. I finally called animal control, who said they were behind schedule for the day but had already gotten several complaints. When they eventually stopped, the woman apparently kind of went off on the guy and said all the reports weren't true, but that they didn't want the dog anyway, so they would drop it off at the pound the next day. They did.

Guess what they bought their kids for Christmas this year?

It's currently chained up in the backyard yapping it's head off. I've since met the guy. He's ok, but kind of strikes me as the used car salesman type, something about him just doesn't sit right with me (might be prejudice due to the dog thing). I'm trying to figure out if I want to walk over there at some point and directly tell him he needs to find a better way to take care of his dog, leave it to the other neighbors (who obviously called animal control before) to complain, or complain myself. I'm all about having good relations with my neighbors, and handling stuff directly, but I have a sensitive spot when it comes to kids and animals. I have a feeling that if he didn't respond properly (my definition of properly, since obviously that's the right one ;) ), I'd end up biting his head off and creating an issue that wouldn't be worth it in the long run. *sigh*

This qualifies as a 1st world problem, right?

the_jazz: I hope it all goes smoothly. Thinking of you guys.

We got half the bathroom textured today. I guess we'll do the other half tomorrow? I don't know. All I know is that we're without a shower and a sink until it's done, and I'm tired.

Oh dear. This is the worst part of being a parent. Well, its being taken care of, that's good. Certainly, you've got a great doctor (our area is renowned for them). Lots of strength to you, the_jazz and Mrs. jazz, too. Please keep us updated when you can.

Ready to get this show on the road!
It's too early, of course, so I'll get a shower, go pick up my new glasses that had BETTER be in on the 8:40 shipment, grab Starbucks for my driver and head home, in hopes that he'll have already heated up and eaten the leftover Philosopher's Pie (with chicken) and be ready to load the B-car and get outta Dodge.
I'm ready for Leo, the mountains, and some cool air.
Oh, and the Hunger Games sucked balls and positive thoughts to the Jazzy family.

They shoulda just made it about the dog trying to escape from the chopper and it woulda been a better film.
