What chores do you enjoy?

I know, "chores" and "enjoy" in the same sentence usually don't go well together. A lot of people (usually) have one or two they kinda like to do, though. What's yours?

For me, it's mowing the lawn. Riding mowers are nice, but I've always preferred push mowers (even when mowing for my parents, and they owned an acre and a half.) Sometimes I'll put in headphones, but most of the time I just let the drone of the mower lull me into a mellow state of mind.

I get time to think when I mow...or to just totally zone out, if that's what I need. It's a physical job, and I like to work up a good sweat. I always feel better after attacking the yard with a push mower.

    Your turn.

  2. "Enjoy?" Maybe the nearest I come to that feeling would be cooking or laundry. QW doesn't mind when I cook, but she's been avoiding letting me do the laundry. Can't imagine why.

I don't mind cooking. I can't think of any other chores I enjoy. Just do it because it has to be done.

  4. I like mowing the yard. This one is small so it is no big deal. Push mower all the way. I enjoy painting also.

And like you CinnamonGirl, I will zone out doing both. Good therapy.

Checking the mail, organizing my place of living, cleaning my house and vehicle. That's about it.

I enjoy the chore of masturbation very much. I only consider it a chore since I'm usually not a sexually active person.

Organizing. I kinda go nuts. I'll organize other people's stuff for them because I enjoy it so much. And I don't mean little projects. I mean three months later and I finally finish projects.

I replaced my mower with a push along one. I dont always finish in one go - although its a small garden. There is something about the sound - like passing a game of village cricket on a sunday afternoon. The thwach of leather on wood. Somehow both feel like quiet sunday afternoon things - quaint and peacefull.

For me, the enjoyment aspect comes from the feeling of accomplishment once the chore has been completed. Like when you scrub a really dirty floor till it's sparkling, or wash a whole heap of dirty dishes. You can stand back afterwards and, even though you're tired, bask in the mellow, satisfied feeling that only a completed task can bring.

Ah, the difference between doing and having done :)

The pull toward 'having done' can get one through a multitude of doings
    .
My favorite chore is cooking/washing pots and plates. For me, it is an integrated dance/challenge/puzzle performed on one stage. Simultaneous completion is my goal: Dinner ready on tray to be taken to where I eat, and the washing up has all been done apart from what I will eat off and with. 'Points' are dedicated if my urge for a clean kitchen means I let the food go cold. I love the improvisation of multiple actions into one smooth process.

Especially when I'm stressed out, I like doing dishes by hand. Something about the warm water and the cleaning process = relaxation.

Is gardening a choir? If it is I really enjoy doing it. I also enjoy at rare moments going on an organizing binge, where I just feel a need to get everything totally organized, and chuck out useless crap.

Cooking, but I've never considered cooking a chore.

I'm with Healer, I like the feeling of accomplishment I get when a chore is done. The look of a clean kitchen, the knowledge I have no more dirty laundry, the shine of a clean bathroom.

Also, I love the fact Cinn loves mowing the yard, I *HATE* yardwork.

I enjoy doing all the yard work, including watering all the plants in the morning before I leave for work (assuming no overnight rain). I also don't mind washing dishes or folding laundry.

I enjoy cooking, but that often gets killed by double duty, as I'm the default dishwasher (everything by hand, no machine).

On the other hand, I enjoy washing dishes because I plug myself into my iPod and crank it up. Sometimes I can be at it for half and hour or more and not realize it.

I'm slowly getting over hating double duty. It's just that I'm lazy. Part of the problem, I think, is that I used to work at a restaurant where I would spend the entire day prep cooking and washing dishes...and getting paid for it.

But we're starting to eat properly, three meals a day, so I'm putting the work into it and it will pay off.

I sort of enjoy weeding. As long as it's limited to a small area and isn't my ex-boyfriend's 1/8 acre garden that I took care of last year..

I don't consider cooking a chore. I like vacuuming (move all the things and then put them back when the carpet is cleaner! Yeah!!), washing dishes, and putting laundry and dishes away. I am not a fan of doing or folding laundry, but I love putting clean clothes away in the closet or dresser.

Chores are difficult for me right now. I used to get a lot of enjoyment out of cleaning my whole house from top to bottom. Part of the problem is at work I'm the one responsible for all of the chores--dishwashing, sweeping, wiping everything down. When I get home, the last thing I want to do is more chores. Generally, I save it for the weekend, but in summer that's difficult because we're often gone. I do like vacuuming with my new vacuum, although I need to replace the bag. I like mopping, and I plan on doing that this weekend (I have a sweet mop). I like yardwork, but I injured my back at work a couple weeks ago (all that bending over...grrr) and so I've been trying to take it easy in that regard. I like cleaning my kitchen, and I definitely need to do that this weekend. Last weekend, I canned some jam and it splattered on the cooktop, but we went to a bbq right after that and I didn't have a chance to wipe everything down :(

I also like cooking, but I don't consider that a chore. Like pony, I feel satisfied when I see my clean clothes put away, but I don't necessarily like doing it.

For me, cleaning the bathroom is the chore I'd rather do over say... the dishes or folding laundry..
