    Sand hill cranes flying over the house. I don't ever remember them during the first week of March. Usually mid-month. If like years past, they will be flying around for a few days then gone until the fall.

    I'm not sure where you live SirLance but here in the Midwestern U.S. having decent health insurance ensures access to an echocardiogram--almost too easily, IMO. You know, doctors and their big, expensive toys. I've had (conservatively) maybe 35 echos done. My arteries are and have been just fine but it was a seasoned general practitioner with just a stethoscope who caught the sound of my heart shutting down. Then came much fun like going in through the groin for a cath and the carotid artery to snip off heart samples (woohoo).
    Not saying anything would have extended Jone's life, but who knows?

    That's postmodernism for you. It's an occupational hazard.

    There are a bunch of books that I've been meaning to read, and many of them are postmodern works. Unfortunately, my endurance for "books about books" or "books about themselves" is wearing down. This is what draws me to genre fiction. The challenge there, however, is sorting through the junk.
