    Iowa City. Since it's the home of the University of Iowa, at least there is a decent selection of restaurants and things to do in the evening most of the time.

    True. But you're too far away for my restaurant suggestions. An hour to 90 minute drive each way probably isn't worth it for you.

    What are your suggestions?
    I travel over various parts of the eastern half of Iowa on a regular basis. I'm guessing you are talking about somewhere in the Quad Cities and/or Des Moines, since that's 60-90 minutes in either direction?

    More towards Des Moines, but not exactly there. There's a place called The Depot in Grinnell that's very good - it was the last time I ate there about 5 years ago, anyway. And Rube's is in a no-name town but it's a cook-your-0wn-steak place with gigantic baked potatoes.

    I rarely go as far as Des Moines, but there is a chance I'll be in Grinnell in a month or so. Thanks for the suggestion. :cool:
