But our return to "godliness" (for Good White Christians only) will save us!

I don't like that they were secretly recorded them...it smacks of entrapment.
But there IS a value of getting the real perspective, rather than the face they put on for cameras or the public.

John Roberts has the right idea, in this article, what you'd think a justice should be, thinking in terms of the law, not religion
Secret recording reveals Alito agreeing that US should return to ‘a place of godliness’ – live

At least he's at the head of the table, but he doesn't have that much power, being first among peers.
Alito however is having more a bit of instability, showing patterns of cracking or getting apparently more extreme.
However, a person like this...isn't going to back down, they'll usually double-down.

Nothing can be done about it.
It does increase the argument that Biden should expand the court...to balance out all. (if he wins)
I'm a fan of the idea of having 12 justices, just like a typical jury count.

And I do hope sometime in the future, for an amendment that limits time on the court. (perhaps 20 years)
Then it can represent the nation as it is, in a timely manner. And won't be trapped.

Why not have 11 or 13 (an odd number to break ties, if needed)?

The site is acting really strange, or my tablet is. I hope nothing inappropriate ends up attached to this post.

    Nope, you're good.
I was thinking 12 because it's what they're used to in count...so perhaps use this as a winning rationale.
But 11 is only 2 more...and 13, people are superstitious, even in this day and age.
But something is better than nothing. Just up the ante.

The SC also shot down the ban on Bump Stocks for firearms. IMO the SC has basically ruled the BATFE can't police firearms add-ons.

I don't/didn't have a problem with the ban, but many in the firearms community fight any & every attempt at firearms regulation. They are, generally, also loyal Trump supporters.

Those loyal Republican Trumpers conveniently overlook the fact the Bump Stock Ban was first suggested by the Trump administration, & passed with massive Repub support.

Yep. Justice is slower than molasses.
Especially if someone is trying like crazy to push it out.

There's no justice in it...

But please let there be justice.
Especially for those Chumps out there.

Amy Coney Barrett may be poised to split conservatives on the Supreme Court

All I ask for is legal sense.
Not some underlying absolute principle, but consider each case on it's merits based on law and context.

I agree with her on this thought, things change, as do societies, it shouldn't be based fully on history.

Hopefully, she'll be able to align with Roberts, perhaps Gorsuch.
and bring Kavanaugh along (because she's pretty ;) and he's a dog)

Thomas and Alito are a lost cause. They are beholden to the cult.

I don't see her aligning with the other 3 ladies, just because they're women...she's too diametrically opposite to stand just because of gender.
But she's gaining in power and can think for herself.

In the end, the only wildcard is Roberts...so far...

This split would be nice...but...I'm not holding my breath waiting for a major shift among the conservatives, most certainly not a lasting one.

    A thought (it's possible) & bad joke:
Perhaps Thomas propositioned Barrett. He's been accused of being crude & vulgar.

I’m putting this here, because it’s a long running saga with the courts…

WikiLeaks founderJulian Assange reaches plea deal with the U.S., allowing him to go free — NBC News

I guess I’m fine with this
He did prison time in the UK
He’s been stuck in “semi-lockdown” in asylum with one country or another.
And I’m sure there are other consequences with his guilty plea for the US.

    He did this to himself.
Was it worth all the pain he went through???

IMHO, it feels like justice isn’t perfect
    But it has been served

I just hope we’ve been able to recover and resolve the damage done, from what was essentially an ego play for his media company.

We will never know, the US is discreet on what was the real impact. Secrets and even more secrets…

Traditional British food is mostly meh, I don't want to think about what their prison food is like.

Seriously, I've never known what to make of Wikileaks. Bad, yes, but good in some ways?

I hope this doesn't automerge. Edit: No automerge. Turned off. It took me a while to stylus tap type this rant.

    This sucks.

Who, or what judicial body, will determine what is an "official act?"

If Trump (as POTUS) made a call while in the White House, or any official US Govt building, using a phone that's the property of the US Govt, is anything & everything he said "official?" No matter how treasonous his words?

Will every case, even state, against NPD Trump ultimately end up being filtered through SCOTUS?

If I were Biden I'd have a team (if me already on this) looking at potential actions in a second term, or as a lame duck.

Supreme Court ruled that we have kings, not presidents.
Presidents are immune from their "official" actions and the courts are not allowed to look into the motivation of those acts for misuse.
Want to assassinate your political rivals?
Label them terrorists and a "clear and present danger" and send a team in.
    It's now legal.

Secret Service alarm bells must be going off like crazy...chasing down tons of people all over suggesting this.
They DO take that shit seriously.

I'm certainly not going to mention it.
If they can go question even jokes, like Kathy Griffin.

NPD Trump's Secret Service team (SS )
    is made up of
the oldest, slowest, stupidest, laziest, &
most incompetent agents in the SS.

Democrats Finally Take Action on Clarence Thomas’s Shady Dealings

Yes, a special prosecutor is necessary. Thomas and Alito's gift grab is significant. Thomas' is overwhelming.
BUT, the justices won't take this lying down...and I make you a bet they'll nix the role in October. Before any real momentum has been made.
They've already questioned it in their latest writings for the Chump immunity case.

It will take Congress to actually do something.
Boys & girls you're on deck, y' gotta do something and NOT linger on it like the damn Jan 6th hearings.
