Oh, I don't disagree with any of that. My point is that EVEN IF this were a hypothetical world where Biden had some violation, that doesn't undo all the shit in the indictment. You don't get a free murder because someone else got away with one.

I know DOJ already said they weren't pursuing Pence. I haven't heard confirmation about Biden, and in fact I don't think that investigation is closed yet - but Trump's situation is unprecedented to my knowledge.

The GQP is frothing to see Hunter Biden's junk and are shocked that a rich kid got a job they probably didn't objectively deserve... meanwhile Ivanka gets a nearly impossible patent for makeup in China and Jared gets a check from MSB.

These people have made me kind of respect Mitt Romney, relatively speaking. W is now having lemonade with the Obama's and is some peacenik painter.

It's just wild.

 

NPD Trump and Nauta have been ordered not to discuss the case directly with each other. They can discuss it through their attorneys.

They traveled together to the arraignment. They traveled together after the arraignment.

Basically we're relying on them to use the honor system to guarantee no direct trial discussion. And we're relying on their legal team and close associates to report them if they do directly discuss the case.

Does anyone believe they won't directly discuss the case?

Does anyone believe a member of their legal team or a close associate would report them for doing so?

I would love to know what communications Nauta has received from Team Trump, and wealthy GOP supporters, once it became clear Nauta was part of the investigation.

Is Nauta willing to serve longer prison time by not flipping on Trump?

Has he been offered a job-for-life making good money to take one for the team?

Will Team Trump try to make Nauta the scapegoat? Note: If I were an attorney defending NPD Trump (gag, puke, die) I would strongly recommend not throwing Nauta under the bus.

 

I strongly suspect that Nauta will be positioned as a scapegoat - perhaps even volunteer for the role with a healthy retirement opportunity attached. Given the small portion of the evidence and narrative I've seen, it shouldn't really matter unless the jury WANTS to give Trump an out for a reduced sentence. Trump's personal fingerprints are ALL OVER this situation.

Given his narcissism and his angle for political relevance, I can't see him taking a plea... Which is where the legal smart move is.

What kind of shit happens when he's found guilty and sentenced?
