Being in a hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas is exactly as much fun as it sounds.

That depends: where in Little Rock are you? Are you near the Flying Saucer, Doe's, Ferneu's or The Fountain?

I just got back from Doe's. I flew in late this afternoon, am heading off for Fort Smith in the AM. Found Doe's via Yelp. It was actually a toss-up between Doe's and the Flying Saucer. Doe's was interesting. The steak was pretty decent, the motiff is unique and kind of appealing in a dive-y sort of way. The tamales were awesome. Our service was extremely slow, but friendly enough. I'll be back for a brief stop Wednesday night, maybe I'll check out the Flying Saucer then if you recommend it.

Honestly, I could be still out, or even down at the hotel bar, but I don't feel like drinking. So I'm vegging in my room reading and surfing the internet.

Borla, if I were in LR right now, we'd be out. Regardless of how you feel.

Are you in the Courtyard by Marriott just down the street from the Flying Saucer?

FYI, if you drive "up the hill" about 5 minutes, there's another great little bar/restaurant area. Next time you're there, let me know.

I've seen the video of the soldier being greeted by his dog quite a few times. I just randomly watched it again, and yep. Still makes me cry. In a good way.

No, I'm at the Holiday Inn Presidential.

    Are you from this area?

This is actually my first time being in Little Rock. One of my customer's has a facility in Fort Smith that they are moving some production from into a plant that call on in Iowa. I'm here with the Plant Manager of my company to spend tomorrow and Wednesday in that facility in Fort Smith to see what they are currently doing and figure out how we can best service the business once it is moved. So it's here tonight, to FS in the AM until Wed night, then back over here to stay the night and on a plane early Thurs AM. If the transition of this business goes as expected, it's unlikely I'll be back. But if there are complications or snags, it's possible I will be. If I am, I'll let you know.

Borla, no I'm just down there all the time. I've stayed at that Holiday Inn within the last year. You're better off staying at the Courtyard by Marriott, IMHO. I'm in Fayetteville at the moment, but I was in Little Rock 2 weeks ago. When you're back, check out the Fountain. It's a good bar. If you run into Todd, mention my real name. He knows me.

Yeah, this isn't the greatest hotel. Clean, but dated. I'll definitely see if I can get over to the Fountain on Wednesday. I'm with another guy, so I have to take him into consideration, we'll see. Thanks for the recommendation.

Drinks at The Fountain, dinner at Fereau's (order the fried chicken or the ducks and pancakes) then go to the blues bar halfway in between. That's a good night.

 A lot will depend on how long our day is Wednesday before we get here, but it sounds like a winner to me.

Is it a cool name, and I chose it for here because it was an entertaining juvenile radio show along with ones like Jack Armstrong the All American Boy.
The majority of the usernames I pick for online purposes have something to do with or taken directly from radio shows, fits with many of my interests falling more along the 1890-1950ish timeframe.
