Biden to sign into law same-sex marriage bill — CNN Politics

It’s a very good thing happening.
Congratulations to the folks who are now free to marry who they want.

Gays and interracial guaranteed rights to wed.

Kudos to y’all for fighting all this time for it.

And wishing y’all the best in life and love.
    May you find it. :)

It is a good bill. It's definitely nice to see "our representatives" doing something worthwhile.

But I still have concerns about how the Straight States will attempt to circumvent RFMA.

The Biggest Threats to the U.S. Aren’t What You Think

This is true for ANY country.
It's not just military and might that are security concerns.
    • Corruption
    • Crime
    • Extremism
    • Cybersecurity
    • Climate
    • Emergencies
    • Health
    • Tyranny & Fascism
    Etc and so on...

All of these aren't external attacks often...but things that undermine a nation, anchor it down
Bringing it to collapse like rot in a seemingly large tree.

This is what happened to many an empire.
Not attacks...but inattention, neglect...leaders invested into personal power than the people and infrastructure.

Can't keep the house from falling, if you're preening in the mirror.:oops:

A point TFG forgot...or never knew.

Voters have to start thinking who is going to be the adult in the room?
Not deciding by their gut or anger.

The House Select Committee on January 6 will hold its final public meeting next Monday, December 19th at 1:00 p.m. (EST) to review its final report and vote on any criminal referrals to DoJ. The committee's full report, including all witness interviews and testimony, will be released later that day or no later than Wednesday, Dec. 21.

    Reportedly...

    View: https://twitter.com/kyledcheney/status/1603846375250497536

    18 U.S.C. 2383 - Insurrection
Maximum of ten years in prison and "shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States"

    18 U.S.C 1512(c) - Obstruction of official proceeding
Maximum of twenty years in prison

18 U.S.C 371 - Conspiracy to defraud the United States
Maximum of five years in prison

The committee is reportedly also considering criminal referrals on four other individuals - former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, right wing lawyer John Eastman, former Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark and Trump’s former lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

As a reminder, criminal referrals to the Dept of Justice have no binding legal requirement for DoJ to act but it has been well established that a criminal investigation has been underway for months and recently expanded with the appointment of Special Counsel Jack Smith.

What you need to know about the Title 42 policy that sends migrants to Mexico | The Texas Tribune

Note: The Texas Tribune has been called liberal & leftist. It has been one of few news publications in Texas reporting the failings of our largely Republican controlled government.

The rapid rise and rapid fall of a bipartisan immigration deal

Is Steve Benen overly optimistic that the basic framework for a workable immigration solution actually existed, & accurate in saying it was shut down by Repubs more interested obstruction than progress? Or did the plan contain too many deal-with-it-later issues?

The Repubs, and more than a few Dems, have said the Biden administration should've been preparing for the immigration issue since day one.

The Dems have been blaming the Trump administration for letting the border patrol implode, of putting money into building a wall doomed to fail rather than building an infrastructure capable of dealing with immigrants.

Both are correct. Biden has been avoiding a known issue he definitely inherited from NPD Trump.

Incoming NY Rep. George Santos says he'll address apparent misrepresentations about his past as Republican House leadership remains silent | CNN Politics

George Santos may be the Talented Mr. Ripley of Congress. Some of his voters just don’t care. — POLITICO

That reminds me of a protective mother who knows their child is a total loser lowlife (say pedophile low, & lower), but will fight to death anyone who dares say it.

In one of the Meet Some Trump Supporters vids (which are humorous as intended, & also pretty sad), one guy supported NPD Trump because "Trump has strong family values." Talk about the epitome of WTF?!!.

Well hopefully his story will be revealed soon and he'll go away.
But since MTG, Boebert, DeSantis Gaetz etc were reelected maybe not.
He sure sure has no shame and obviously wants to sit at the grifters gravy train, public sector or private.
Again I'm left wondering how people grow up aspiring to grift, take with disregard to harming others.
It's obviously a lot of work to keep rolling.
    Psychopaths be psycopathin' I guess.

Santos will very likely keep his House seat. In a just world he would be removed, & a special election called.

Will he be pushed into, and kept, the background?

Or will some of the various Repub splinter groups desperate for voting power make him a player?

Him being openly gay could be an issue for some hard conservatives, but politicians are known to make room for strange bedfellows when it benefits them.

If he gets past all this B's I think repugs will make room for a token gay. Even Josh Hawley will embrace (no homo) him if he squawks the squawk like he's supposed to...is he even really gay ?
Aside from all this false statements his vibe is false too. Gut reaction says he's lying about stuff even without fact checking, it's in his eyes and fake expressions to me. I think he'll be happy to take money from future donors and vote as directed.
He looks a bit uncomfortable though so I think he won't make a lot of noise like MTG or go visit Hitler's home like it was a religious pilgrimage.
He feels like a struggling climber willing to do whatever he can to grab another ring on the ladder kinda like Kevin McCarthy who's every word feels like dirt in a Dyson vacuum it's got so much false spin.

On a more positive note though I'm impressed with Cassidy Hutchinson and her sense of personal integrity and loyalty to the constitution and America, if not her intuition at joining up with the whole GOP shit show.

I'm really wanting Hope Hicks to spill all her beans but my feeling there is (though she's kinda mysterious in her persona) she dosn't have any loyalty to America as she does to herself. I think like John Bolton, she's holding her cards till she can make a big book deal.

But I also think all these folks who knew shit but never said anything should get charges levied agents them. Every one put their oath to the constitution and America aside to keep their place at the gravy train.

It's all been so amazingly cancerous how
'dysfunctional family' it's been all the way back to how it was modeled on The Apprentice tv show.

Don't wait for Hope Hicks to say anything of real consequence. She'll hold out for a book deal, and possibly immunity. If neither, she'll say just enough to stay out of trouble, then take a payoff job. Hope Hicks is going to take care of Hope Hicks.

Impressive Santos is willing to spin his own mother's death story into a tool to climb political ladders. That's fucked up.

Thats gotta be compulsive lying from a clinical viewpoint similar to trump himself.

Probably sounds LGBTQ bigoted but it seems to me that being a compulsively lying gay person who's resume is only telling you what he's NOT is a horrible example of lgbtqness for the world.

And again, what in the resume is real ? Nothing that I've seen is real so who the fuck IS this guy ?? Nobody seems to know who he really is !

How is it acceptable that the FBI needs to dig up his background just to figure out who he is days before he's supposed to get sworn in as a public servant ??
The absurdity of it just adds to the overall insanity that really is the branding of the GOP today.

There must be some people who've worked with him, had some public bathroom sex with him, flat out grifted with him who's also willing to take a paycheck to spill his beans.
Every news outlet would pay for some storys here that could be verified.

Everything GOP today is all about personal shit shows and nothing is about the work of public administration at all !!

It seems that anyone can get the GOP Stamp Of Approval these days.

I read where Marjorie Taylor Greene, the outspoken homophobe, posted she would welcome Santos. Votes to help the Freedom Caucus are more important than standing by her often mentioned principles. But maybe Santos also lies about being gay.

He got a divorce, apparently from a woman. Maybe she could shed some light on the real (as she knows him) George Santos.

I was just about to post this link.
