It lived up to the hype, but I have a feeling that this had a lot more planning than just a few hours. ;) I think the media consultant earned their paycheck by having a "surprise" hearing and getting the media something to talk about for the next week.

Everyone is saying the way the Jan6th committee presentations are a game changer.
They're admiring how it being done, unlike old-school hearing...with grandstanding and boring statements.
They're saying all sides are taking notes.

Certainly would be a lot more interesting.
Then again, pols had to get used to TV too.
    It's a whole new way...upping the ante.

IMHO, I hope it gets RESULTS now just viewing.
But I guess any publicity is good publicity...these days.
Hopefully, it changing the thoughts and votes too.

The biggest thing that is different for me is that they are using Republican witnesses and depositions, and even a lot of the questions are coming from Republicans and not the far left members in Congress.

But even Monica Lewinsky got into the memes after what Trump grabbed came out in this latest hearing.

It's great to hear some testimony from a West Winger who actually witnessed at least some of what happed. The problem is others above her are going lie, sanitize, & downplay what Hutchison said happened.

If this ends up in a real court the accused and the witnesses will still lie. The consequences will amount to wrist slapping, & there will be nice rewards from the wealthy grateful Republicans. None of the major players will suffer.

If we are *extremely* lucky (don't hold your breath) NPD Trump will be prohibited from holding public office.

Multiple criminal referrals of Trump possible, Cheney says

    Most certainly criminal.
And he knows he's in trouble.

So there's indication, that he may announce early.
So he can make the news about HIM and claim it is a political ploy by Biden (his potential opponent)
Another false flag operation (JUST like the Big Lie...and the Russia claim, etc. It is a part of his M.O.)

And he doesn't care if it hurts the GOP in November for mid-term elections.
Because he only cares about HIM.

But they should do it anyway.
Even if the DOJ does it beforehand
Get it on record, for the history books
One more stain on T's name, one more nail on his political coffin, one more for the push to jail.
And to give the committee some cred, they deserve it for the work they've done. (and the service to the country)

Criminals should be charged with crimes.
Including ex-presidents, if it truly fits.
No person is above the law.

Analysis: A former Trump chief of staff has emerged as an unlikely defender of the January 6 committee — CNN Politics

Hoo boy, talk about a resource how T’s world works
Mulvaney as Chief of Staff and OMB exec could open a Pandoras Box on T and the rest of the cronies.

Tell you this, T needs to keep his trap shut and not provoke Mulvaney.
But I know him better, he’ll scream about him.
And then more juicy stuff will come out.

See, that’s what is hurting T and the GOP
Despite their audacity to push the envelope and get what they want
They don’t know how to be subtle and keep their mouths shut.
They will be victims of their own aggressions.
    Going overboard and then some.

This is what lost T the election.
People just got tired of the constant wardrums.

And this is what will finally throw the shit back in their faces, after it hits the fan.
    The cracks are showing.

Question is, will it be soon enough???

Biden and the DOJ need to act.

But it’s good to see more joining the push against T.

Raskin Brings Expertise on Right-Wing Extremism to Jan. 6 Inquiry

This probe for this representative has been going for FIVE years.
Starting since the riots at Charlottesville. (Where T said there's "fine people" on both sides...)
But I say, it's been going on longer...with a slow escalation of extremist minds and activities.
T just provoked it, supported it...and in many ways represented it.

We've only just recently created groups to investigate internal terrorism and extremist groups.
We're certainly far behind. (didn't help having a prez and administration, that avoided it, denied it...even suppressed it)

The Jan 6th event...was the cherry at the top of the whole rotten mess
And the committee, is only one thing of many that will, continue to unravel the maze.

There is no "smoking gun"....they're crazy, but not stupid...cunning. They're not going to make it obvious.
Treat it just as you would outside terrorists or spywork.
It's all going to be trickles...subtle indicators.

The probe needs to become a full scale effort.
Problem is...a good portion of our leaders want it to not exist and forget about it.

Hopefully, we can continue, because there's something rotten in Denmark ( aka DC)

I saw where the courts upheld a committee subpoena for NPD Trump's financial records, after narrowing the time frame. Hopefully one more nail.

So the Secret Service deleted text messages from Jan 05 & 06, 2021.
After being asked for them by the Jan 06 committee.

The 06 messages would be very telling. The 05 messages could be even more telling.

    ......

The claims of exemption from testifying are getting even more ridiculous.

    ......

The war of attrition. Stonewalling. Lying. Discrediting. Deleting. Refusing to testify.

    Yes, America is in crisis.

Jan. 6 committee subpoenas Secret Service for missing records

Now the Secret Service is being subpoenaed by the Jan 6th committee
And they're going for the phone records and history by the vendor instead.

The department has done this multiple times before...Watergate, etc.

This is a troublesome entity, they keep getting into questionable acts.

Protecting the POTUS from physical harm in one thing. The SS has a (an unofficial) record of protecting the POTUS from potentially embarrassing situations.

Clearly the SS is covering for NPD Trump and his staff, while covering its own ass.

Why even have the FBI or Cops???
    Why have laws?

The people at the top are complicit in their neglect and incompetence.

Guess only poor people go to jail…or at least have trials.

    ——

Well, now we know why the Jan 6th committee is doing their show
And NOT sharing everything with the DOJ

The FBI would lock it up and sweep it under the carpet.

This is why we can’t have nice things.

What Merrick Garland's 'election year' memo actually means for investigating Donald Trump

Should we chill??? Was Maddow and the many of the lib media correct for the quick outrage?? (including me.)
    Maybe...

Frankly, I think by now, the trust of the Federal govt's ability to investigate and prosecute ...much less in a timely manner is doubtful.
Don't you think many should be skeptical?
    What's been the pattern?

    IMHO, we'll see.
But my patience and tolerance are worn thin and edgy after so many times and years of justice misses.
    Comey, Mueller and now Merrick
They are screwing up as much as the Udalve cops.
Except instead of kids...it's potentially our nation's stability at risk.

How many times can justice be up to bat...and strike out?

    Many are fed up.
You might see a cultural rebellion like in the 60's

Dammit...I can't even grow my hair long and into a ponytail.

I watched tonight's House Jan 06 Committee hearing.

Wouldn't it be some shit if NPD Trump gets nailed for what he didn’t say & do, especially considering of all the things he has said & done?

    .....
I did NOT like how Cheney sucked up to the NPD Trump loyalist by saying they were "patriots who love their country" who were mislead by Trump.
Everyone knows it's dangerous to tell a crazy asshole "You're a crazy asshole." But to refer to them as patriots is bullshit.

    Well, she is VERY conservative...
But maybe she's trying a different tactic of bringing them "over" to target Trump.
I agree, they're not patriotic and are complicit...but that's not how they see themselves in their twisted mindset.

I don't think Liz cares if the GOP gains in power.
I think she just wants them away from T.
She sees T is the rot and danger...not the rest of the GOP.
If he wasn't around, then she wouldn't mind at all the GOP and conservative ideals fully taking over. (Dems and everyone be damned)
Remember who her father is...despite the skill she's showing here.

Many need to remember the hyper aggressive mindset, rhetoric and tactics the GOP has even when T wasn't around.
T isn't just an festering pus...he's a part of the overall symptom for the GI.

I'm a GDI, I think America should be there for all ways.
But extremists think their way is the only way.
Which is why we need so damn checks...to prevent not only tyrants...but dominance too. (by ANY party or group)

T's a problem because he wants it for himself.
He's just leveraging the GOPs rage. (thus holding an upside down bible in front of a church he doesn't go to or a faith he doesn't follow...a metaphor if I ever saw one)

It's kinda like Stalin & Russia helping to defeat Hitler's Germany.
Yeah, they're allies for the needed evil...but don't forget they're dicks themselves.

Steve Bannon found guilty in Jan. 6 contempt of Congress trial

    Now 2 questions...
    1. How hard are they going to come down on him??? Hopefully 2 years plus $$$. But I doubt it.
    2. Is this the 1st of many punishments for ALL those who refuse subpoenas. Setting a new precedent. (I would prefer this...too many just posture and walk now...there needs to be enforcement)

Jail time & a fine? Bannon would use the time to write a book for which he would be handsomely paid. His speaker fees would be higher.

Being a convicted criminal used to be a negative, at least publicly. People who take one for the team are compensated by people who support the team. It used to be done quietly, secretly, behind the scenes, etc. Now the rewards for criminal behavior are openly celebrated.
