Time to give up hope now.

I figured it would be a competitive game, but that the Packers would win. Now I'm wondering if we might have a rematch of a couple of years ago in the SB, NE/NYG.

That was just a terrible, TERRIBLE effort by the Packers. Turnovers, drops, missed throws, bad coaching errors. Did not deserve to win, didn't win. Simple.

It's kind of interesting. Leading up to the playoffs, I constantly heard about how it was all about offense and elite QBs. Now Brady appears to be the only elite QB that will be left. Though Eli is very solid, I don't think many would put him above Brady, Brees, Rodgers, and Roethlisberger over the last couple of years. And all of them but Brady will be sitting at home while the likes of Alex Smith and Joe Flacco are playing to get into the SB.

Great point Borla. It has been a very interesting post-season. Some very unexpected results, and some very expected results. I'm excited to see next week's games. Giants got hot at the right time of year.

Yes they did. I will laugh if it ends up being B'more and SF (though I think it'll be exactly the opposite). Mainly because of who their QBs are, and because both teams have based their success more on D and the running game in an era where the stud QB is supposed to be king.

  10. Not to mention brothers coaching against each other. That would be an amazing storyline.

Ah, yes. I had forgotten about that. That would be pretty cool.

I'm now rooting for B'more because I really want to see Ricky Williams get a ring. Love that guy.

It'd be QUITE the story if things worked out that way.

I'm very glad that the AFC game is before the NFC game. My wife's team is the Giants. If the Patriots win, I don't want the Giants to win, because that's a miserable time for both of us. But I can't admit that to her that I'd be secretly rooting against her team. Of course, if the Pats lose next week, I'll have no trouble rooting for the Giants.

    Don't tell her, OK?

I disagree with this reasoning, and not just because it involves GB. Whenever people bring up that the refs gave/took away points I always say, the refs altered that one play. If it wasn't a touchdown play, it was the defense that gave up the touchdown on the ensuing drive. Hell, after GB did their first ill-fated onside kick, they blocked a field goal. Anything can happen on a drive. Football is crazy like that. And before anyone says anything about "momentum" - Please remember that it's a myth

I basically agree. The refs do make mistakes, and sometimes they have an impact on who wins the game. But if you were to break down the entire game film, I think you'd find a pretty equal amount of bad calls both for and against each team. Also, part of succeeding as a player is adapting to how the referee crew is calling certain things that are largely left up to their discretion (pass interference, holding, etc.). Though you'll watch some games where they seem to be letting everything go, and others when they seem to be calling everything, typically they are at least fairly consistent within the same game.

I understand both points of view. Just seems to me that when some ref makes a wrong call it has an impact on both teams. Good or bad. You can call it what you want. I will call it momentum.

A bad call can demoralize a team just as easily as it inspires a team. Though the refs hadn't "given away" any points, it can have an effect on the games outcome. Doesn't have to be the entire team either, could just be one key player.

The refs didn't score any points for any team. I did see at least one call that was, in my opinion, completely wrong and went in favor of GB... big time.

In the end the Packers were out played and they put on a poor showing while being out played. I wonder if the death of the Philbin's son had any affect?

Well I've repeated stated I'm a 9'ers fan so obviously I want to see them win but getting by a hot NYG's team and either the Ravens or NE will take no small effort. At this point my biggest hope is NE and "Coach Cheater McCheaterpants" crash and burn. If that were at the hands of the 9'ers in the SB it would be a prefect end of the season to me personally.
