J.J. Abrams was the writer-director of Super 8, Spielberg was a producer.

Although there was an excess of lens-flares, per usual, Abrams did a good job with all the kids into making an enjoyable movie.
Pretty suspenseful for a family film. I liked it.

I saw "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy". I read the book probably 25 years ago and had forgotten most of it. It's a damn good movie with some pretty interesting twists. Gary Oldman does more without saying a word or doing more than adjusting his glasses than I think any other actor I've ever seen. Best performance I've seen in a long time.

For me: The Tree of Life. Loved it. X-Men: First Class was also quite good, but I'm an X-Men mark.

Hope to go see Sherlock Holmes. Didn't really love Super 8. I was one of the few who like Cowboys and Aliens even though it wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

The most satisfying move of the year for me was The Muppets. It was everything I was hoping for.

Bridesmaids. I saw it at a $1 theater a few months ago, going just to score some points with the wifey. Funnest movie I have seen since Me, Myself, and Irene (Jim Carey). I had several instances of true uncontrolled laughter.

Another Earth. It stayed on my mind long after watching. Will never figure out the ending though, which presumably was by design.

I actually enjoyed Bridesmaids way more than I thought I would. I basically watched it because my fiance and her sister were watching it at my place. I half expected to get bored but I found myelf laughing throughout. I wouldn't say it was the funniest movie of the year by a long shot, but it way exceeded expectations.

    mine was clearly twilight.

I would say super 8 - i only saw 5 minutes of it but it was pretty cool. Don't think I saw many movies in 2011...
