    Link to story.
I'd love to know what motivated the fight. Talk about bizarre.

Am I cynical that my first reaction was "cue the folks that think everyone should have a gun"?

Regardless, what a crazy episode. In all my years of school, I don't remember ever seeing one teacher even raise their voice to another teacher, unless it was to call across a crowd. Good job, Justin Richardson.

Someone on another forum said it was because she thought the other teacher was trying to get her fired at a school board the previous night. I'm looking for a link to back that up.

at least the dude stopped it instead of forming a jerk circle while screaming "FIGHT!!". It never ceases to amaze me how stupid people can be. She's worried about losing her job, so she decides beating the woman in the head with a screwdriver will secure her position. Hope she likes tacos.

Apparently some folks need to be kept away from screwdrivers too.

Good on that feller for having the guts to help out, when he could have been hurt too.

Just glad Mike McQueary wasn't there to casually observe a violent, horrific crime and then walk away quietly without really telling anyone about it. Good on the football player to take charge. Yay for small amounts of restored faith in humanity!

Premeditated murder attempt and all she gets charged with is assault? I'm sorry but English teachers just don't carry around screwdrivers. I don't care how long someone has been an "upstanding citizen." Attempted murder is attempted murder.

    New Yorkers are dangerous.

A guy with a dolphin as his avatar just said that. Oh, how I love TFP.

    ...

    Huh?

Attempted assault, assault and possession of a weapon?

Okay, a screwdriver isn't a weapon until you make it one. Fucking liberals.

And stabbing someone 16 times with an improv weapon isn't attempted assault.

    KirStang?

    ...

Not cynical at all. I'm surprised somebody stepped up. Funny, my first thought was that I'm guessing that nobody had any proper medical supplies to deal with what could have been a life-ending gusher. I carry a "blowout kit" in every vehicle I own as well as in my backpacks. The torn off bottom half of a t-shirt and direct pressure work okay in a pinch but I'd rather have real medical supplies, especially for something like multiple stab wounds.

Am I cynical for being utterly amazed that this jock stepped in to stop the attack? Part of me is wondering that if it was two male teachers going at it if anybody would have tried to stop them. America is pretty short on "heroes" these days. We claim apathy or fear of lawyers but the truth is many people are just deathly afraid of tasting their own blood. Let the WTC planes of 9/11, the Virginia Tech shooting and any modern Kitty Genovese remix remind us of how little we give a shit about our neighbors and "doing the right thing." Who needs guns when you're too apathetic to use them?

Idk. Maybe NYC is all jacked up.

You'd need to prove intent to murder in order to successfully convict of attempted murder (intent is a pre-req in all "attempted" crimes).

Aggravated Battery for sure. Idk why the media is reporting "aggravated assault..." Once you touch the victim the crime of assault is merged in to the crime of battery. But this isn't the first time I've seen media misreport something.

It wasn't in NYC. Poughkeepsie does remind me of Detroit, though.
