Either you believe in due process or you believe in the appropriateness of street justice in some instances. You cant have it both ways.

    Then I choose due process.

On a sidenote, I fully agree with a heavy punishment for adultery. Whether you take that to be life in prison or the death penalty, either way is good.

Of course with adultery being common in the US, Australia and Europe, and society as a whole having become so desensitized to this act; few would advocate punishment for it.

The death penalty? Isn't that a bit harsh? In instances of adultery, if the husband is the offender, I advocate cutting off his penis and stitching the slack piece of meat to his forehead. If it's the wife, I'd like to see her sent to a luxurious spa resort for some sex addiction counseling.

As long as the spa treatment focuses on repeated anal sex treatments and instructions, heavy on the treatment and light on instructions... sans lube, then I agree.

If you are going to hire a lawyer to help you manuever through a sex scandal while trying to keep your reputation as clean as possible, who better than this guy? :D

Meh. I have no sympathy/compassion for offenders of that act, whichever sex they may belong to.

You may not have any sympathy for adulterers but why would you advocate the government or state involve itself in what is solely a matter between two spouses?

While I agree, I think there is a huge ground for negative consequences before you get to "stone her!!!!"

Since marriage is sanctioned and regulated by the government, it kind of already places itself in there.

My personal solution would be to have a financial impact in the divorce settlement when there is a particularly offensive act that caused a divorce (adultery, physical abuse, etc.). You basically entered a legal contract when you got married, you should have some consequence if you grossly violated it. Though many people assume that they will end up getting the judge's favor in the divorce/custody battle if the other person cheated on them to cause the divorce, that's only true in a tiny number of states.

I am in full agreement with Borla's scenario. I don't mind life in prison/death penalty, but I'm more of a general advocate of some form of punishment and am perfectly happy with financial burdens on the guilty party.

I also see adultery to negatively affect society as a whole. It is the government's purpose not only to clean the streets and maintain public order, but also to put safeguards in place for a healthy society. Traumatized kids from an ugly divorce battle (who may then go on to lead entirely dysfunctional lives as a consequence), a spouse harming/killing the cheating spouse in a moment of complete insanity, or the cheated-on spouse "breaking" mentally by plunging themselves into an extreme bout of possibly-lethal drug/alcohol addiction does not influence society in a positive manner. I'd argue that it harms society much more than crimes of theft and robbery do, but we have a stringent tendency to dismiss any remotely long-term problems.

We are simply too used to the non-consequence of adultery and divorce in our Western societies, so I don't expect much.

Wow, I thought you were joking about life imprisonment or death sentence for adulterers. I see now that you're not.

Either Sharia law has infiltrated itself into your morality set or you've been badly scarred by personal experience.

Psh. Those guys are a dime a dozen. There's one that lives over on the next block and up 3 houses. I see him in the alley all the time. He's a good guy, and his wife and mine are pretty good friends.

Well, the fact that adultery has become an epidemic is the result of feminism. Before the feminist movement took hold, women were shunned in their communities for being an adulteress. It was shameful. But now that women are in the workplace earning money and paying their own way, they don't need men. And when you don't need something or someone...you're more inclined to shit on it.

Yep. I blame the women. No men ever got involved in that kind of thing, no sir.

And I was nowhere near the hotel at the time.

Probably best to burn the witch.

Yeah, damn uppity dames out earning their own money instead of being forced to rely on a man to provide. Out working for a living... in PUBLIC! And yes women who strayed were once shunned. The men they strayed with? They were considered studs and admired... exactly who were these guys "straying" with? Other men?

The stuff that you post is either a great comic act or you're completely nuts.
