The reason is that they couldn't figure out how to let it leak oil. A quote from a Land Rover owners forum "If a Land Rover doesn't leak oil then it is out of oil."
That said I still think the Brits have always made cars that are fun to drive.

    me too!

I lived near George Barris's workshop in Studio City...I'd like either of these.

Realistically, I would like to get this car... my father's 1969 Z28 RS Camaro.

I loved my 1972 MGB GT that I had while I was in the Navy. Have also admired the TR7, the Spitfire, my best friend in high school had an Aston Healy Sprite. My dad had a 65 jet black XKE when I was real young, he always said it would nickel and dime him to death that the aluminum pistons were nice it kept weight down but they couldn't handle high speeds for long because of the heat.

If I had a vintage XKE I wouldn't drop anything in it, the 350 would be a downgrade. I remember people telling me to drop a small block in my MGB, I guess some people did, but those small unibodied cars weren't built for that type of power and speed. Just like a Fiero wasn't built for long distance speed.

My second car was a 1972 Green Saab Sonnet. What a ride! Trouble is, I couldn't find anyone willing to do repairs on it for a reasonable price. My first car was a 68 Ford Torino but I don't want to go there.
