I think it’s a “last straw that broke the camel’s back” scene.
    Although very legit.

    1. There’s been an accumulation of bad police incidents lately...perhaps for the last some months if not more.

    2. The virus crisis

    3. The economic crisis

    4. The madman at top pissing many off for a ton of things... (including a tone-deaf response and a phrase that seemingly encourages violence VS people)

    5. A very REAL tragedy videoed right in front of people’s faces at multiple angles

All of which has impacted the black community more so...

So, there’s the protests (from all from the Left)
Then there’s the underlying anger. (From all sides)

When the powerful get pissed they bomb and imprison people
When the people get pissed they shout and break things
    Same diff

Mr. T made the mistake of not being calming
    He tried to play “tough-guy”
    It backfired on him.

Right now, we’ve got to show justice done.
Otherwise it’s going to get worse

Think of it like a big city with a blackout in the middle of a heatwave.
Then an incident that’s a spark happens.

Unfortunately, we currently have a leadership that’s either stoking the flames or is doing feckless actions.

And if ya think the National Guard is gonna calm it
    They’ve got another thing coming.

    The people are pissed.
And it’s just going to grow

This is what I meant when I said it was going to get weird.

Right now, we’ve got a president playing a great Louis XVI and some are storming the Bastille. (Sorry, I’m a history buff)

Meaning it’s not going to get better
It’s going to be a long Summer...going into a surging Fall.

Maybe the election will change something
But it’s not going to change until the current administration is gone.

    Get ready for more riots.
And the other sides reacting and overreacting.

    Everyone is pissed all over.
    It’s going to be mayhem.

    Again, Hope I’m wrong.

The blue line will retaliate for this. That's how NYPD seems to operate here. It's one of the reasons why I don't file any complaints about the local precinct bad apples.

When I look at this I realize that it profoundly saddens me.

If anyone has any questions about my experiences I'd be happy to share. That being said, I was only in for four years and 2.5 was in the rinky dink town of Grand Junction. The last year was in Golden, and we would also cover Denver State Capitol. I did have a turtle suit issued, but only one time did we get called to the Capitol and nothing came of it.

One thing I am wondering is should there be a minimum age for entering law enforcement. I went through at 37. By that time, if I were a hothead or out of control, I probably would have had a criminal record or at least friends and neighbor interviews would have stated maybe I should not be a police officer. As an adult, my record is squeaky clean except for the occasional speeding violation. Someone fresh out of school or into adulthood doesn't have much life experience. Maybe they get into an incident and they don't have the ingrained roadmap built up to guide their decisions. I went in partially because I have kids and I want a better world for them. I went in because I want to see justice. That's my experience at least.

Down in my little corner of this world, I am shielded from the sadness this event has had on George Floyd's family and fellow citizens.
I grew up surrounded by Australian Aborigines, as they were workers on the cattle station my dad worked, but they were also my teacher on many memorable occasions.
I have never had to experience what I think many American negros have to experience.

But these riots, these burning buildings of stores and companies that had NOTHING to do with the death of George, angers me.

Why have we not seen these types of riots after a shooting massacre?

I posted this on Facebook and I’m going to post it here too:

I think we need a licensing board for police officers. You know how medical professionals have to answer to a licensing board and not just their employers? And how that license can be revoked and you can’t just move somewhere new to practice? We need that for the police. Any use of excessive or lethal force (or any other bad behavior) should be reviewed at license renewal every 1-2 years (just like medical professionals!), along with continuing education being required for them to remain licensed, not just for making more money.

The problem with using violent rioting is that you end up with people like this, just beating a woman in the street with 2' x 4's because she owns a store:

    https://old.reddit.com/r/donthelpjus...ile_defending/

People who have an open mind to listening or driving change see this and associate it with all of the rioters the same way the other side sees a few bad policeman and associate it with all policeman. Then no one wants to be reasonable on either side.

We had protests Friday afternoon and night, with some violence and over a hundred arrests. The ones on Saturday involved smaller crowds and fewer incidents.

I don't agree with Trump throwing around tough guy talk, but I certainly don't want to see the police allowing illegal violence. I have no issue with business owners protecting their shops, but not in a I-Dare-You way.

The wheels of justice turn slowly for everyone, sometimes to the defendants benefit. Clearly the frustration isn't just over this case, but people have to realize this is going to take time.

One of the problems is this is a perfect storm for people to vent their frustrations. Leadership is needed on both sides of the issue.

on saturday night the mayor of atlanta issued a curfew from 9pm til sunrise. needless to say it didnt stop anything. their were less people though.
    then this happened.........
APD use Taser to get driver out of car
needless to say they were both fired.

on sunday night the curfew was the same and the end result was the same. but with less people

they say their were 157 arrests on friday night and 97 of them were not even from atlanta.
