Could also be unique geological features such as cliffs to one side, swamp to another, etc that make it difficult to stumble into the place, but relatively easy to find if you have the use of your whole brain.

Okay I didn't expect that gut wrenching scene. Really put the humanity back into perspective.

Hershel's explains that he didn't know
in a clip from the next episode. He says Otis wrangled the walkers but died before he told anyone about the new addition. The timeline must have been very narrow, IMO, meaning Sophia must have been bitten after her 1st night sleeping in a small closet. That, Or...Sophia sought shelter in the barn--got in the same way Glenn did and somehow was bitten though I don't see how that could have happened. I'd really like to see what happened to her.

I cried and so does the actress that plays her mother when explaining the scene. You have to be pretty tough to just blow that off.

Just saw the finale today. Very good ending. I'm glad Rick took the reins and is acting like a leader again. He has to, or he knows Shane will fill the vacuum he'd create if he left.
I am glad the Sophia arc is over. Now lets move on. I swear if they're back stuck on the interstate when this starts up again, I'm going to flip.

Yeah, I got sick of the Sophia part. It's finally over and done with.

    I hope that
the group now moves on from the Hershel clusterfuck farm and finally gets to the Prison. It was by far my favorite part of the comic book story. I'll be pissed, if they omit the Prison.

Yep, even as a big fan of the show, I felt that that 'the search for Sophia' was stretched too far out. Interesting though with all the Frank Darabont-being-fired uproar, that everything we've watched so far had his hand in it. It is said that what we saw was exactly why Darabont was let go. He's a film-maker and the way you tell a story on film differs greatly from a TV series.
I think we are gong to see less talking in the second half, probably more cheap thrills. That's my main concern: with the budget per-episode slashed to one-third of season 1's, will the zombies start looking uber-cheesy?
Just another gossip insider (Ausiello) FYI: Frank Darabont, who developed The Walking Dead for TV, brought aboard three actors from his 'stable'. They worked for him multiple times previously and all stated that when 'Frank' asked it was an automatic 'yes' in reply. However, there was a huge uproar after Darabont was fired and in the wake one of the actors demanded to be let go. Now comes news that said actor, the sole man--the one I would've guessed--Jeffery DeMunn who plays the old guy, 'Dale' got his wish. By Season 2's end Dale will be dead. From the video cast interviews that were coming off the set after each S-2 episode aired this time 'round I'm going with he dies well before the end of the season 2.

Really, I hope they keep the
    cannibal storyline to kill Dale
from the comics and don't just dish the job off on some zombie. That would be weak. WEAK. Unless! Unless they:
Have Shane kill Dale and then use that as the impetus for Carl killing Shane

    I agree. COMIC BOOK SPOILER
Since though getting rid of Dale was in service to the actor not the story, I highly doubt that people will have de-evolved in our little TV story to cannibalism, yet.
I don't even think Dale is gonna die by zombie. I think he's gonna die by Shane.

    Considering:
Dale is the only one to verbalize how Shane killed Otis, expect him to wrap up that loose end and suffer the fallout

OH SNAP. I just watched that preview for the next episode... Does anyone at this point think Shane lives out the 2nd season?

(This is pure speculation so I'm not spoiler tagging.)
Yes, I think Shane lives out season 2. It seems from what he says that Robert Kirkman is really enjoying changing up the route he went so long ago when he killed off comic book Shane. I think at most, we will get a cliff hangar at season's end as to Shane's fate.
    What is your opinion?

I just powered through this series in the last two days and I like it. I was going in expecting zombie killings left and right, but got drama. I didn't know how to feel about this, but I'm ok with it now. Can't wait until February.

I heard that Kirkman's regret was always that he killed Shane too soon, not leaving room for the inherent tension the character brings to the story. I still don't think he lives out Season 2, mainly because his death is one of the most important things that could happen to the story at this point, for Rick and for Carl (assuming they do what we think they'll do). Keeping him around just undermines Rick and you can only do that for so long. Rick needs to once and for all assert himself as the leader. He can't do that with Shane around

As someone who hasn't read the spoilers and has no idea what to expect, I'm looking for see how Carl responds to his 'fallen idol'. Perhaps Shane will just take off now the way that he said he would and turn into a reappearing bump in the road for everyone, who knows. (I know some of you know)

As I said before one of the things I really like about this is it's not just a TV version of a zombie FPS, I really think that canning Darabont could turn around to bite them in rear - It's only the highest rated scripted show on television (according to NPR this week). If that changes, we all know who will get the blame.

you know its gonna be a BIG cliffhanger.
