    Somebody in management at work decided to advertise the 32" Emerson televisions by playing the Capra classic It's A Wonderful Life on one. Excellent choice but they chose the colourised version! Ugh. That might be almost as painful to watch as sitting through the first two Star Wars prequels again if I was forced to actually sit and view any of those for whatever reason.

    Sent my laptop off to the repair center yesterday.
    Hopefully, I didn't somehow damage the hard-drive myself, and Acer will replace it without charge.
    Btw, turns out Acer has two repair centers, Texas and Canada.
    Got lucky on the shipping.

    Thanks, but all I had on there was a few pics and clips I had downloaded to post on here. Nothing I couldn't afford to lose.
    I'll definitely do the back-up thing next time, though, since I found out that that's the actual boot disk.

    Heh, just had a visit from the electric company. They changed out my meter for a "smart" meter.
    I hope it can do my taxes.

    ya know, i have no problem whatsoever with the phrase, "a well regulated militia..."

    i have a problem with assault rifles in the hands of teenagers who carry them and can't spell 'militia,' and people who think that they have a right to own them because of their paranoia that 'someone is out to 'get' them...'

    I was just looking at a friend's toshiba that has lights but no attempt at POST. A google search gave me almost instant results that is a common problem with this exact model. Turns out Toshiba offers out of warranty "minor repairs" for $229 and "major repairs" (includes motherboard which I strongly suspect in this case) for $459. *rolls eyes*
    I am going with the help them transfer data off the hard drive route personally.
