John Roberts Won’t Let Mitch McConnell Derail a Trump Impeachment Trial

    Interesting, I didn’t know that
    Ya learn something new everyday

So Justice Roberts would be in control of a trial

I don’t recall this during the Clinton trial
I just remember the GOP shoving it down our throats
For a lie about a hummer
Then getting busted on it after failing

    The public isn’t THAT stupid
They’ll call bullshit after the fact.
    “Fool me once...”

Today's testimony by William Taylor, who was brought in as US ambassador to Ukraine by Trump administration after he fired the former ambassador at the urging of Rudy Guiliani, is pretty damning, if not a smoking gun.

Taylor is a career civil servant having served as US ambassador to Ukraine under Bush and Obama.

William Taylor testifies about deep-seated push for Ukraine quid pro quo
The Washington Post describes the testimony as “damning.”

You can read Taylor's 15 page opening statement here.

It certainly appears to make a strong case of efforts by Trump subordinates acting on his behalf, if not Trump himself, to tie Ukraine military aid to political favors.

We can expect the smear campaign against Taylor to begin shortly, starting with Trump tweets.

Am I missing something, or is my definition of "a smoking gun" a bit narrow?

I want The Shyster gone as much as anyone, but I keep reading & hearing more circumstantial evidence. Can/Will someone testify, honestly, that The Shyster specifically said, with no ambiguity, he withheld the aid to force Ukraine to further investigate Biden?

Uhh, his own Chief of Staff on public TV???

Y’know, impeachable offends don’t have to be 100% proof
It’s not a court of law
Frankly, many court cases are proven through circumstantial evidence

There’s an incredible volume of witnesses and documentation that shows the act and intent

If by now you don’t think it’s 100
Then it’s never going to be

Hell, even Nixon wasn’t as blatant

I'm aware of the above, and I'm 100% certain of The Shysters guilt.

Wouldn't you like the Senate (and the conservative blowhards) to have something so irrefutably damning they can't deny it?

And now the Republicans are disrupting the hearing? Have we become a banana republic?

    They’ve got things irrefutably damning
The GOP is still spinning and denying (most...)
I also know that they’re still collecting evidence
Both formally and in the media

And GOP have gone to lengths that might as well make us a Banana Republic
BUT the overreach they did in the Clinton impeachment damaged them
And the same should be true this time
They’re putting themselves into a bind

Opinion | Thanks, Whistle-Blower, Your Work Is Done

    Good visuals and details
Step by step for what was confirmed.

    Unfortunately, most won't read it.
That's the problem, many are in their own little world.

This time Leaders needs to lead...and act.

This is why it's a Representative system
Expecting a few to represent many.

Too bad, there's quite a few that are representing corruption.
And they're loud about it...and don't hold back.

Let's hope the the right thing is represented.

So the investigated are striking back with their own investigation. IMO this shows beyond a doubt that Attorney General William Barr is not acting for the good of the country, he's a puppet for Trump (not that this is new news).

Barr Is Investigating The Investigators: Will He Find Wrongdoing Or Political Fuel?

This could be very interesting, since the Mueller Report left much unsaid (and unasked).

“Ten Reasons Democrat’s are winning on impeachment”

I’ll agree on the points, because I’ve said the same.
But on that it’s Dems winning

    It’s not about party
    It’s about what’s right
And there are some Republicans and Independents that want justice too.

    So they’re playing it right
    Making it tight
All the Is dotted and Ts crossed

    To make a point
And give their best shot at getting at least 20 GOP Senators to convict...
But everyone that thinks he’s guilty
    No matter the party

    Is a vote required?

If not, this could be viewed as mini victory for Trump.

Demand a concession that you're not entitled to. Whine, cry, make accusations, etc until you get the concession. Then do it again.

    Sounds like Trump to me.

    Nope, nothing is required
It’s total discretion of the House
    And so the Majority
    And thus the Speaker

    I don’t think it’s a T victory
They just want something to bitch at
    Distract and dismiss

    She’s calling their bluff

Remember, the vote on how it’s done
Basically gets done the way she wants

They can kick & scream all they want
It’s totally in her hands until impeachment
    And a trial starts

Even then, that’s controlled by Supreme Court Chief Justice Roberts
    Not McConnell

She’s locking down what she wants
    Making it official
Which makes the impeachment even more formal

    The GOP doesn’t want that
    They want to create doubt.

She’s got them over a barrel

I can see Team Trump continuing to make demands. Hell, they're already having people ignore legitimate subpoenas.

I read a quote earlier today to the effect (paraphrased), "If they don't have anything to hide, testifying shouldn't be a problem."

“This resolution establishes the procedure for hearings that are open to the American people, authorizes the disclosure of deposition transcripts, outlines procedures to transfer evidence to the Judiciary Committee as it considers potential articles of impeachment, and sets forth due process rights for the president and his counsel...”

Pelosi wants Americans to see the trial of Donald Trump — NBC News

Something to followup on the last post

She’s really playing a chess game here
    Almost as a gritty prosecutor

Like she’s opposing a slick mob boss
Didn’t allow effort into a trial
Because she knew the law had holes
    And the boss has connections

    But once they got arrogant
She went for the lockjaw case

Now they will have so many proofs
That the connections can’t allow it off
Or IF they do, they’ll be punished in the public
    And any future elections

    That’s what she wants
The election to be the true trial
    On the GOP

The Impeachment Inquiry is now official (even though it didn't need to be voted on).

The Repubs & other Trump defenders were screaming foul, and too little too late, even before the vote.

So what happens now? My guess is the Yes Trumpers and scared Republicans are going to attempt to slow and divert the proceedings by introducing more bullshit than produced the largest cattle ranch in the world.

    That’s all they can do
By the constitution, the House can do anything

    The Dems own the House
    The vote to Impeach happens
Likely succeeds just on party lines
Then it goes to the Senate
Trump is Impeached (it goes in the history books)

Then the Senate goes to Trial
    The Chief Justice runs it
They get to vote and be on the record
We’ll see what price they pay or are willing to pay

The election may the true trial and justice

I saw the first, for me, Trump reelection campaign ad last night. On FOX.
