Finally got to Southern California Tuesday afternoon on AMTRAK'S Southwest Chief. A little over six hours late. Started out fours late from Kansas City Sunday evening. We had a little sleeper compartment called a roomette which made in to bunkbeds. Not enough headroom for most sex positions and too narrow for the others.:( We finally managed it Monday afternoon in the seat set-up. Never had train sex before.:D
Now we are set up in our favorite little old beach front motel in Newport Beach. A great little place straight out of the 1950s. We are going to look at an ocean front vacation rental condo Thursday morning.:)

My cyberstalking skills scare me. I really didn't need to find out that stuff. Ugh. Also, why am I bothering toying with the idea of contacting someone who ghosted me?!

  5. Today I was bored and thought, "Oh hey, I haven't been on that TFP in a long time." Then I saw a gross, sexist post and remembered why I stopped coming here....

I know I should not feel glad for someone's death, but I am happy David Koch of the Koch brothers and Koch Industries is dead. The reason I am glad he is dead is due to the outsized money and influence he has used to distort american politics, which has cost untold amount of suffering and hundreds, if not thousands of lives through the enactment of right wing, selfish policies. His consistent influence and gobs of money have bought tons of republican politicians and have helped steer this country into becoming more hateful, selfish, and violent. Good riddance to bad seed.

  14. Just wanted to say I got a wild hair and decided to hop on the ol' forum - so neat to be involved in something like this for 18 ish years. So interesting to think about who I was when I joined and what my life experiences were compared to now. I am glad that some people are making their own fun and broadening their own horizons still. The trash people have always been trash and will continue, that's the nature of a forum. Don't let the bastards grind you down, as they say. :)

We went to the Cubs game at Wrigley Field Sunday afternoon. Cubbies had it in reach down 1-0 until giving up a 3 run homer in the top of the 9th inning.

Wrigley is a special place. An old Ball Park in a great neighborhood.:)

I got cheap tickets to see Dear Evan Hansen at the Kennedy Center tonight. This was not high on my list of "must see" shows but what the hell, I'll see what all of the hype is about with a musical about a high school senior with social anxiety issues.

I'm finding the speculations on today's news re: Afghanistan by both left- and right-wingers absolutely hilarious. Everyone's taking random potshots, but presenting it as a factual assessment. :D

Sony to produce a special 40th anniversary Walkman

Nostalgia is king. As Hollywood cashes in on “Aladdin,” “Toy Story,” and “Fast and Furious” sequels and remakes, technology companies are following a similar path.

In 2017, Nintendo released its Super NES Classic Mini. Sega's Genesis Mini comes out Sept. 19. Now S ony wants to join the trend, announcing a 40th anniversary Walkman called the NW-A100TPS.

There are no cassette tapes here, but with the 40th anniversary Walkman you’ll get high-resolution audio, 26 hours of battery life, Bluetooth compatibility and an Android operating system. Sony unveiled its retro-inspired device Thursday at the IFA technology conference in Berlin.

Not everything was better back then, so you can enjoy the best of both worlds with the heritage design of Walkman whilst having cutting edge technology at your fingertips,” Sony said in a press release. “You can also enjoy a cassette tape user interface that takes inspiration from classic Walkman models.”

Sony’s 40th anniversary Walkman does not currently have a U.S. release date or price point. However, Sony announced that the device comes out in Europe in December and will cost 440 euros, which is about $489.

The new retro device supports both downloaded and streaming music. Its storage is minimal -- 16GB -- but it sports a microSD card slot so you can boost your device’s memory.

The device also has an “old-school” cassette screensaver that changes color based on what music you’re jamming out to, according to Gizmodo.

The NW-A100 comes in red, orange, ash green, blue and black and features a small 3.6-inch touchscreen. For comparison, the iPhone XS has a 5.8-inch screen and Samsung’s new Galaxy Note 10 has a 6.3-inch screen.

Sony's first Walkman launched in July 1979 and became a revolutionary portable music device.
