DC Universe online goes free to play...

i would never have paid 15$ a month to do it, but i'm housesitting this next week so i might strap on some tights and see about breaking some baddies.

anyone else try this or are going to? i have a ps3 but i'll probably do it on pc for what are usually better graphics.

 

Is the download free yet? I'd heard about the FTP coming, but last I checked the DL wasnt free yet over the PSN.

 

yup, it's on psn as far as i know. there's already 120,000 people playing it on pc. i read that they're having stability issues and server queues. that will probably die down though after the first week or 2.

Will look into having a go. It seems if you want extra things then you have to buy them, which is fair. If it is a good enough game I don't begrudge paying for extra content .

Yeah I feel the same. I have no problem giving cash if the game is good. I know there's a Green Lantern expansion I'd definitely think about paying for.

 

yup, i feel the same about dough; i just want enough of a taste to decide if it's worth ponying up for. it seems you get a lot for just spending 5$ on here.

that said, i'm unfortunately having a tough time playing this wknd. earlier it was a 2k person Q so i said fk it, and just now it froze on me when i waited through a 900 man Q. i might have to wait for the fervor to die down to see if i like it.

p.s.morpheus and i have very similar avatars if you're not looking close; i did a double take there.

 

Yeah I downloaded the game too but couldn't play yet as well. I'll just wait it out, I'm replaying Arkham Asylum in to prepare for Arkham City anyway.

 

This is exciting news. I'll have to see if my friends still play.

What is PSN and how do you know where to find these free to play games? I may just have to venture and see what is available.

Ahh I see as a PCer who cares very little about the console games, I can see why I wouldn't have known.

 

I've only had a chance to check it out briefly (the servers are getting nailed it seems) but I will say this. As a longtime comic fan it was pretty damn awesome fighting alongside Superman against Brainiac's minions right off the get go.
