I dont know if the whole day is great, but this part is pretty cool. One of the tellers at my bank mentioned that yesterday someone had given her $10 face value of half dollars. Took a look and saw they were all 40% silver with about $2.17 in current melt value per coin. I told her what they were worth, but as a teller she did not want them in her coin tray. So I bought them from her. They will go into my gun safe with the other silver I have picked up over the years. It is not a big collection, but it is mine. You can see by the picture that the edges are not coppery.[IMG]

Taking my girls to school, I got off the highway and made the entire 2.4 mile drive through 7 traffic lights without hitting a single red light. Absolutely amazing flow.

NewGarageFootings.JPG NewGarageFootings3.JPG I'm having a great day because, while I was gone today, the concrete contractor dug footing today for our new garage in the back yard.:) There were several delays because of rain. They should be able to start the flat work next week. Then it has to cure for 2 weeks before they can build the garage.

Look into putting a barrier shield under the concrete to keep dampness down also have them be very careful with the pitch of the floor so it tends to drain toward the door. Also i don't see a trench for power hookup

Thanks for the tips. That's already planned for, except for the electric line.

    Now the bad news:

The whole thing is dug five feet too far to the South. The garage contractor drew up the plans with the footings set 38 feet back from the sidewalk. Which he assumed was the North property line. He had a survey done which showed the ROW extends to 5.5 feet South of the sidewalk. It's a four lane street with a 51' ROW. The surveyor's stakes were right there in plain sight. But garage guy didn't change the working drawings.:( So, the concrete guys dug the trench for the footings 38 feet south of the surveyor's stakes.

The only saving grace is that they finished so late in the day that they couldn't get the footings poured.

So now, after almost three inches of rain last night, we have 4' deep trenches full of mud and water. Instead of concrete.:)

Y’know, it always seems as if they’re playing in the mud and ground for so long...
Then you finally see a foundation
    And suddenly...everything goes up quick.
Then they’re back to doing “things”
    Things that create noise

It also seems, I’ve had the displeasure of having construction going up for every place I’ve lived the past 15 years...
Suckered in with a beautiful view
Next I know, trucks and jackhammers...in the early morning
And no more view...even more special lights that don’t turn off.

wow! you're really lucky they didn't pour concrete yet! Now all they have to do is set back the trenches. Phew! It could have been worse.

Got to work before any other employee. My branch manager asked me to sit down. Saw the look on my face and said don't worry, it's good. I just had my two year anniversary with the company yesterday. So today he told me I was being promoted to banker 2 position because of my work and productivity. Also came with an 11% raise. Enough to make a diference.

    Let’s see...
    - Project has become sane
    - New project manager is starting to realize how much the old PM didn’t do things, I did.
    - Boss wants me to take a leadership role
    - Saw a fun science show with Neil deGrasse Tyson
    - Great steak at a good steakhouse after
    - No gf to bother my brain.
