Kind of reminds me of shooting out the red star with the straw of bbs at the boardwalk games.

I hope you guys had a good halloween.

AK47 with a drum magazine is a lot of fun.

No girls in "sexy ____" costumes, though.

And no booze. No monster outfits.

So I had a shitty Halloween.

It's all good, though. I'm sure other TFPers will post great stuff in the Halloween Costumes thread. It's good every year. Hulk Dlish SMASH!

IIRC, the only AK-47 drums worth having are the Romanian "snail shell" model. The "tuna can" Chinese ones are crap. Drum magazines in general are pretty unreliable on top of being heavy and bulky to carry. The RPK, for example, is typically seen employed with regular "banana" box mags in 30 or 40 round capacity, the 40s being designed specifically for the RPK. 40 rounders are goofy, however, because their length is similar to the length of the bipod attached to the front of the gun and thus you've created a tripod when you snap one in. Way awkward to use in the hasty prone position.

Belt fed with quick change barrel really is the way to go for support fire weapons, at least as far as your dedicated machine gun roles. The Russians, however, don't have a light one since they discontinued the ancient RPD and their next step up is the general purpose (7.62x54R) PKM or Pecheneg.

Was that Pumpkin hollowed out? I would have expected more dramatic results from a fully intact pumpkin.

Probably shooting FMJ's. They go through veggies pretty clean.

Yea, most rifle rounds travelling at such a high velocity in a denser-than-air medium, tend to tumble and create a larger wound cavity. My understanding is that AK rounds like to flatten and exit at oblique angles relative to the entry wound. But maybe the AK FMJ likes to go through and through.

The copper jacket doesn't like to peel for anything less than meat. I've shot tons of fruits and veggies with a range of weapons, the 7.62 usually has the cleanest exit inside 25 yds. Beyond that I think the round starts to tumble when it enters, it seems to obliterate everything. A raw chicken at 25 yds with the 7.62 is a different story, entry is nice and clean, exit looks like a shot gun blast.

My understanding is the jacket is supposed to peel like a banana and leave little bits of shrapnel behind, while the lead core continues through mass. I've also heard the reasoning behind the US going with the .223 over the 7.62 NATO had to do with the .223 tumbling more inside the mass.
