Occupy Wall Street

Discussion in 'Tilted Philosophy, Politics, and Economics' started by Willravel, Sep 25, 2011.

That's actually more accurate than you realize. A few hundred libs camping out in a private park is hardly what I would call occupying anything, let alone Wall Street. In fact, Wall Street is doing better than ever. My portfolio is absolutely booming right now.

It's unfortunate that you're okay with the intersection between government corruption and corporate greed---crony capitalism.

    or

It's unfortunate that you really don't know what's going on.

    or

    Both the above.

    either way

Enjoy your money. At least you have that.

I'm not. Which is why I'm going to support the leaders that I think can best resolve the issue.

    For sure.

    It's a crap-shoot, but I guess it's better than nothing.

  5. Eddie Getting Tilted

I've won big playing craps. Roulette is my game though. I have a system with a 75% success rate.

    What's your rate in elections?

  7. Eddie Getting Tilted

    I haven't really kept track.

I guess it doesn't matter. "Your guy getting elected" isn't the same as "Your guy doing what you hoped he'd do." Ask those who voted for Obama.

  9. Eddie Getting Tilted

No doubt. But isn't it funny how most of the ows protesters interviewed in the poll I posted said they would vote for nObama again? Just shows how clueless they are.

Eddie, it's not an easy task to venture outside the spaces we've grown accustomed to.
Inhabiting a mindset of unyielding certainty, becomes a prison.

    My reality disagrees with you.

    You said:
I'm not talking about codes, I'm talking about real, actual danger. Was OWS in real danger compared to my neighbor making hot dogs on a warm August afternoon? I see no evidence they were. Thus, these rules were being enforced for the sake of the rules, not for the safety of the people, as I continue to contend.

I didn't say that OWS was in danger, I stated that they endanger other people by not following the fire code.

Yep, that's the FDNY, they keep up with enforcing the rules. ALL the time as I stated before. It's not like a cherry pick. I've been many places where the FDNY arrives and does surprise inspections. They do it for private business, factories, restaurants, bars, and clubs. They enforce the fire code which encompasses everything from exits to how and where flammable items are stored.

Maybe if they didn't post that photo, maybe they'd still have their equipment. If you bothered to watch the 20 minute video I posted you'd see that the OWS folks even tried telling one of the Fire Marshal's that one of the containers of biodiesel was urine, trying to keep the bottle after they were asked to surrender it all. No wonder they didn't give them the option like originally planned because they obviously cannot self enforce. If you watched the Times Up cycle generator you'd have seen they have at least 1 bio-diesel generator (modded) and 1 regular generator (un-modded)

ring, I finally found something that shows gasoline canisters being stored along with gasoline powered generators from Oct. 25.

They also claim that they are trying to address the fire issues with a group who will watch for flame and address it directly.

I think that it's not as rosy as they are painting and apparently they have their own "media blackout"

Sorry but that's fucked up right there. Apparently I should have been looking up stuff about this kind of culture instead of logistics because lots of people have written about the very idea that keeping it quiet sets back women's rights decades if not at least a century.

I didn't want to post the sexual assault/rape articles as most people have me pidgeon-holed. But for all of OWS's idealism, that's pretty fucked up.

Proof that Wall Street is not bearing any of the brunt for the mess they've made of the economy.

Do you suffer any guilt knowing that you haven't 'earned' any of it? I thought you right wing types were all about "the road to success is paved with hard work"?

You've bolstered the cause. Thank you, Eddie.
