Why do people drink beer?

    I want this clarified.

There are alcoholic bevarages that taste not just well, but extremely _fucking_ good. Whiskys, cognacs and other aperetifs don't just get you drunk faster, they are simply better in all ways. Then you have ciders, actual real ciders made from apple, if you want something against the thirst or to the meal.

Instead people drink something which tastes like puke. Why? Why is this kind of beverage even served at bars and such places?

    I DON'T GET IT.

Because for some people whiskys, cognacs and other aperitifs, taste like ass.

Since you mention that for you it's about getting drunk faster, maybe you are drinking for effect. Heck, why snort cocaine when you can bang it right into your veins?

Some people like a good beer. Heck, back in the day I'd drink both whiskey and beer at the same time.

Yes, it tastes horrible. I have no idea why it is so popular or how people can drink the stuff.

Where did I ever put cocaine into this equation? Alcohol is my prefered drug. I might have a slight grudge against the commies in blue but I'm not going to do that kind of coke just for that reason.

You didn't. I did for dramatic equivocation since you said that liquor gets you drunk faster.

I come from an Irish family.
The first booze I drank was Guinness, from bottles set down at parties when I was, I don't know, eight maybe.
Heavy, dark stouts taste like my childhood.
They are what I drink because they taste good and are almost like eating food.
If I want a quick buzz a single malt scotch or a my specialty mixed drink the Redravin (1 shot cranberry vodka, equal parts cranberry juice and hard cider) works great.

Drama queen? Hardly. You're the one who started the drama saying beer tasted like puke.

Anyways, bad beer specifically American beer is crap.

    Craft beer gets better.

English, German, and Czech beer are amazing.

I drink very hoppy beers. Dank hop bombs are my go-to. I love the different characteristics that come with hops. Citrus, grapefruit, guava, passionfruit, spice, earthy tones, etc.

My favorite beer describes itself as "citrus, tropical fruit, and dank herb." Yep, that kind of dank herb. To me, it tastes like relaxation.

    Now I want a beer.

I also enjoy drinking wine, whiskey, and other beverages. But what I choose to drink depends on the occasion and my mood. But usually I opt for a hoppy beer.

I prefer a cold beer on a hot day.

    Why???

Cause that's my preference. And I enjoy it. I prefer a cold beer over whiskey. But like I said, that's me.

I'm not much of a beer drinker. I prefer Scotch. Or akvavit. Or plain orange or grapefruit juice. Limeade.

But on a hot day a cold beer is good. Especially at the ball park.

Simply, because "that's what makes horse races".
There are many choices and drinks out there for a reason.
If some didn't like them, they'd die off, fade away... "there's no money in it"

Being condescending doesn't make you better...it just pisses people off.

Now go drink your stuff, we'll drink ours...and maybe we'll meet in between.
Although, with a bad attitude...I'll doubt I'll drink with ya.

I prefer to drink with folk like our late Uncle Phil. Cheers to him.

    Different strokes and all.

I drink Tequila & beer, generally not at the same time.

I like less hoppy, dark ales or lagers. With a gazillion microbreweries in Colorado, it's pretty easy to find something that appeals to anyone.

I miss Uncle Phil. I'm lucky to have some Phil-types in my life, though no one quite has his sense of humor. However, they're all great drinking buddies--caught up with one of them last night. Good times

In Heaven there is no beer. That's why we drink it here.

Yesterday I had a dark saison with Brettanomyces. It was toasty, tangy, and it had a hint of funk. Yum.
