    Yes, let's do.

I'm thinking there were more people watching Tebow yesterday than there are ows protesters. I guess that's a pretty clear indication of what the real 99% are up to these days.

Hi Remixer, I haven't forgotten about this forum.....really do enjoy it, just wish I had more time to spend on here. It has been a pretty hectic few weeks for me, but the dust is starting to settle.
"Having to argue with people like that must drive you crazy at some point. Or lose hope. Or both."

You do tend to get very frustrated, and want to give up sometimes. That is why I am excited to see the whole Occupy Wall Street Movement grow, not just nationally, but worldwide. The whole basis of the movement, income disparity, and lack of disregard for the working men and women by governments, is a global issue. I believe the overthrow of governments in the Middle East, and to a lot lesser extent, the Tea Parties success in the U.S. has given people some hope that they can change the status quo. Hopefully, changes in our country will take place, but we'll probably have to wait until the presidential elections

Certainly have to admire the who bravely fought long odds to change their governments. If only we could be so successful ...

Your reply Eddie is a perfect example of how frustrating it is to have a "reality" discussion/debate with tea party types.

Ah, personal experience, it's better than a poll because it's more biased and has a larger margin of error.

I prefer first-hand information as opposed to info that's filtered through some corporate agenda, that's all.

I sympathize with this sentiment, I really do. However some of your arguments come across like they've been filtered through a corporate agenda without the benefit of poll consultation.

Nothing more than a coinkydink. I don't watch the news. I don't even have cable tv. I stream news from various independent sources on the internet if I want to know what's going on. But mostly, I travel...a lot. I've traveled extensively throughout africa/north africa, asia(including china), europe, russia, israel, and australia.

Funny how your picture of reality is so very different from mine.

Then again, I guess it depends on the purposes of one's travels.

To experience different places and the uniqueness of what they have to offer.

I have much less a problem with your conservatism than I do with your rational lapses.

But that seems par for the course with much of conservative argumentation. It's like contemporary conservatism has for the most part reached a point of being ideologically bankrupt. It's like the contemporary conservative is grasping at straws. A part of me wants to play devil's advocate just to show you what I mean.

It's like the world is leaving them behind. In a way, it's like how the stodgy Victorians reacted to rapid change. In contrast, with the way the world works today, I'm really not all that surprised by the number of fallacious reactionaries, especially in the established mainstream media and the stagnant culture of politics in the U.S.

I understand the wariness of poll results. Obviously, accurate news needs to come from varied sources...not just Fox News. (Sorry couldn't help it ;))

Or to mingle with the people of those countries to get to know their culture and lifestyle on trips for pleasure; and to engage in business meetings and contracts, familiarize oneself with appropriate etiquette and have an understanding of the economic and political factors on trips for business.

Selling out is not the same thing as growing up. The movement, as time went on, got closer and closer and closer to existing Republican power. The second Tea Partiers started talking about gay marriage, gun rights, abortion, religion and the like, the movement died. As it is right now, the GOP skinned the Tea Party alive and is now walking around like Leatherface. It's a complete joke on every level, and because of that I feel sympathy for the libertarians that started the movement. I wouldn't wish that kind of thing on my worst enemy.

Why? Patriots aren't allowed to talk about those things?

Because what separated the Tea Party from the GOP at the beginning was the fact that it was a movement about austerity and economics alone. It wasn't just another stupid group of Republicans parroting crap they hear on conservative talk radio, it was people of principle speaking out against what they saw was an injustice. It was a movement of pure, libertarian fiscal conservatism. As soon as the lunatics showed up after getting marching orders from the likes of Glenn Beck, what credibility the Tea Party had died off and was replaced by the clear picture that it was just Republicans that happened to be outside in the same place. Nothing at all separated it from the GOP. And what's more establishment than the GOP?
Patriotism is devotion to one's country, not being the ignorant victim of manufactured rage. The Tea Party (after April 2009) is to patriotism as Scientology is to religion.
