I connected with a few friends, once I figured it out. They crush me everyday. Sorry to hear about the dog, but what a great idea to be challenged by a k9.
Never like breaking in a new mattress. Good luck with that. Try stretching before you get out of bed.

Got very angry at the gym. Guy was hogging several pieces of equipment all over the gym and was in my way. Can't stand when people 'reserve' equipment and then are on the other side of the gym talking or reserving another piece of equipment over there also. Chaps my hide. I got a lot more angry than was warranted. Made an ass of myself.

Well the anger led to benching, top sets of: 315x10 365x5 and 315x10 again.

Squat day. I know I'm trying to change my squat to high bar from low bar squatting for a few years, but I just realized that my bench day I lifted more weight than my squat day

Squat top sets 315x5 365x5 315x5. It's kind of depressing, lol

Why is it depressing? I wonder if the muscles get fatigued differently

It's depressing because my bench is technically bigger than my squat. LOL. I don't skip leg day, I promise

There is one other person on this planet who can view my body as critically as I do and give me blunt feedback. This morning I was walking around naked after I got home from the box, and that person complemented me and encouraged me for my efforts for a solid 7 minutes, making him late for work, even. Few things are as reinforcing as, "wow babe, you are really coming along. Your squat form is so much better. Did you ever think you'd be where you are now? I'm proud of you." I almost teared up, because I've been feeling like shit about gaining another 3 lbs and my quads not fitting in any of my pants. I keep reminding myself that it's muscle, but it doesn't make the bread loaf top any less painful to look at. If I could go back and scream at my 2004-2005 self, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I'll be fighting this weird loose skin for the rest of my life from losing too much, too fast. Frustrating. But, I remind myself that I'm 41 and my ass is moving into the "noticed for good reasons" category. Well, and also because I live in dress yoga pants from Betabrand, ha.

@Japchae - do you dry brush? I have seen it do awesome things for loose skin.

Started back on keto (LCHF) on Monday. I was at 225. I'm down to 218.:eek::eek: That's without working out because I've been sick with a sinus infection.

Best part: my husband said he was proud of me :)

Next week, once I'm well: weights, weights, and MOAR weights! I love this workout and it's really helped me in the past The Ultimate 6-Week Home Workout

Finally squatted 385 for five reps on Wednesday. Now my squat is once again bigger than my bench. Hope to do over 400 soon, but am taking it easy with the high-bar squats. They seem to require more concentration on form and core strength.

    I'm happy for myself
I just did a trip that was VERY physically impacting...

    Long road trip BOTH ways
    Long hours
2 weeks in a weird bed and place (not the best either)
    Working remote, odd hours
    Lots of bad food
    One night of over drinking.
Lots of far-off strange places...with strangers.
    Weight-gain
    It all counts
    Stress (good and bad)
    Exposure
The body takes it all...and it has impact.

It took me 2 days to recover
The first day back at the gym...Oooo...I was breathing hard, moving slow....lots of sleep and naps after.
2nd day...long bike ride in the gym...my typically "ride" these days
Challenging, hilly, 10.2 miles...a good sweat.
    I didn't beat my time.
BUT I noted my heart rate was MUCH better than normal.
    I typically average at 160
    this time it was 150
Awesome (and I'm near 50 )
This means a lot for a guy who's father has had heart-attacks (and his father...and his father...)
I'd like to break that pattern

And yesterday, after a long challenging (and a bit stressful)
Doing the punching bag hard and long with the gloves...I was springing on my step...not lead-foot stance.
I've hit my momentum...back up to speed quick

Time to sign up for those new Kung Fu classes.
Just to be able to say "I know Kung Fu" ;) (saying I know Kenpo Karate doesn't resound as well...even if I've taught it...you Matrix lovers know that :D)

We missed two workouts last month once because of illness and both damn shoulders being fucking dislocated. I swear I need to sleep in restraints to keep from flinging my damn arms overhead and/or behind me. The other was yesterday and could not be helped.

Managed to traverse our entire neighborhood trick-or-treating with the tween last night in the new (since Jan.) wheels and felt pretty kick ass for it. lol. Last year was a struggle in the old chair and I tore my tricep, no such problems this time, and pushing myself has become a breeze except up and down steep inclines/declines as the tipping point is different.

Friday will be another gym day and I plan to work out as hard as this body is able.

I need to start working out. I'm way too sedentary. Main reason why I'm anxious to do volunteer work. Gets me out of the house.

    CinnamonGirl The Cheat is GROUNDED!

I sent my mom a selfie of me wearing my witch hat on Halloween. "Shit," I thought. "My face is getting fat again." I haven't really done much of anything since the last week of August--interim goal was to look good for ZS's wedding (which, I think I did, if I do say so myself), so once that happened, I slacked off for a week...then two...then a month....yeah.

Back to calorie counting today, which hasn't been too bad. The real test will be when we're slow at work tomorrow and Thursday. I did the first Couch to 5k workout with Leia (she is a TERRIBLE running partner, btw), and then, because I still felt pretty good and I haven't been there in forever, I went swimming at the gym. Just half a mile, but I'm kind of worn out now. I'll definitely sleep well tonight.

Loose goals: a) 9-12 pounds down by Christmas. I want to fit back into my high school jeans again (they briefly fit for a glorious three weeks earlier this year. It was so awesome.) b) Hit goal weight, or close to it, and get my cardio ramped back up by May, so I can walk around Europe without getting tired, winded, or sweaty too easily.

    Let's hit it.

What a great and spirited post! Also, pretty awesome that you shared your goals, and with that attitude I'll bet you'll soar through them!

My heel has decided that it was a good time to swell up. Putting off the gym another day, but will get back to it tomorrow.

Had a new PR on the bench this weekend. Pushed up 380 for one. It's amazing the difference five pounds makes. I did 375 for 3 just 5 days prior... 380 felt like a truck parked on my chest.

Gym day here, woke with a rib partially out (but can still breath fine) so not sure how that will impact workout. May do more lower spine and thighs and not so much with shoulders and upper back.

Also have a lot of wheeling to do later and we may be going out for sushi so lots of time in wheelchair, mini wheelies, and terrain changes back and shoulders will get a workout in then.

Finally got to start up with Kung Fu :D

Wasn't bad...my back kicks are sloppy.
It was different doing the stylings...since this is classical traditional Kung Fu
There will be some "muscle memory" practices that I'm going to have to "reset" since their philosophy on certain moves (ex. on a front-ball kick they want me to land back to original position rather than land forward)

To be specific, the new style is called Tien Shan Pai

And my new uniform will not be a Gee...but more like the classical high-collar buttoned look of Chinese Kung Fu.
Which will be an interesting look for me. ;)
At least I've got the bald thing down...no pony tails for me.
That and interestingly enough I've got the type of shoes already...so there's a bit of savings. (no bare feet here)

But I can't tell you even after the first lesson, it "does" something for me.

I did my first deadlifts with weights this morning. I've practiced with the female bar a few times. 85lbs for two 30s rounds. Amongst a shit ton of other stuff for almost an hour. But I was most proud of the deadlifts.
