cigars, pipes, cigarettes, dip, chewing tobacco... what are your favorite brands? what would you recommend to people? i'm personally going through a few bags of Levi Garett chewing tobacco and I have a tin of Filmore Flake pipe tobacco that i'll break out whenever i'm settling down for a long discussion about nothing with my friends. i used to LOVE Kahlua cigars but they stopped making them, god knows why... does anyone know of a cigar that tastes similar?

We roll our own cigarettes. We have a rolling machine. The best tobacco I've found is D&R Ramback Gold, it's a blend of Virginia, Turkish and Oriental. It's smooooth, and doesn't have harsh after-taste. I use Ramback full-flavor tubes, my wife uses Hot Rod menthol tubes.

I pay $15 for a 14oz bag of tobacco, $3.50 for a 200 pack of tubes. The 14oz bag will net me about a 2 1/2 cartons worth of cigarettes, so it's far cheaper than the packaged brands and it's infinitely better tasting.

The only cigars I like are ACID blondies. Smooth flavor and not overpriced.

I don't smoke anymore, but when I did, I liked Drum for everyday and a special Turkish blend from our local tobacco shop for special occasions. Roll-your-owns are soooo much better than regular cigs.

And Zig-zag papers (complete with zouave) are a must.

equadorian or dominican cigars, either coronas or churchills...

the quality of good house brands down here equals that of the 'name brand' sticks and is far cheaper...

Totally agree. My dad brings back boxes of hand rolled cigars from the D.R. every year. Best cigars I've ever had, period. Except of course for the cuban romeos.

I smoked since I was 16, quit a few times and right now am a quitter. As gross as cigs smell, still want one. Last brand was Misty Silvers so I wouldn't suck on anything I actually liked.
Gotta say, chew is disgusting to see, does probably more damage to your body (particularly mouth and jaw) than any other tobacco variation and it makes anyone's face who dips look stupid.
    God, I miss my cigs....

that's funny because i feel the same way about cigarettes as i dip. the smoke from cigs drives me absolutely nuts. at least smokeless tabacco doesn't affect others unless we knock over that spit cup

i would argue that smoking is much worse as the cardiovascular problems from breathing tobacco smoke is more deadly than chewing. although the diseases from chewing can be pretty gruesome. anyway enough on the threadjack, we all know tobacco isn't the healthiest habit.

i guess it's a pick your poison thing and depends how much you do it. my poisons are copenhagen wintergreen or beech nut if i'm in the mood. the occasional high quality cigar as well.

The summer after my freshman year of college, I smoked Djarum cloves alone in a dorm room while writing depressing poetry about a recent breakup until the wee hours of the morning after spending my days working as a receptionist and listening to music that made me cry.

It all came together nicely. I haven't touched them since.
