Did the Vietcong have superior firepower? The American Revolutionaries?

That's a good post, cynthetiq. And it explains perfectly why the Fed needs to be destroyed. That said, protesting on Wall Street ain't gonna change a thing. You want to hold the Fed accountable and hold the politicians who didn't protect our money accountable....then you need a strong leadership consisting of individuals who are willing and able to represent you in political office. You can't change the fact that this is a democratic republic...you can't bypass the democratic process of elected representation. It just won't work.

The NVA and vietcong had superior numbers. The American Revolutionaries had other technical advantages.

Heh, we're each talking about different things now, clearly. I was talking about nonviolence.

You mean shouting and holding cardboard signs?

Civil disobedience was brought up. Did you miss that part?

Like shouting and holding a cardboard sign while getting arrested?

Not true. Do you not know history?

    Please look at examples Afghanistan-Russia, Afghanistan-US, Vietnam-French, and Vietnam-US.

  8. Eddie Getting Tilted

Didn't the U.S. help out the Afghanis against the Russian invaders? Yeah, they did. And the current war is against the Taliban, not Afghanistan. As far as Vietnam goes, I don't think there are really any accurate numbers. It's been reported that there were anywhere from 200k-2million soldiers on either side. But what we do know it that the Vietcong won many of the battles by swarming superior numbers on the would-be occupiers.

I thought the VC won because the northern folk were just more trigger happy.

There is nothing disobedient about that. So no.

Do you know what destroyed the Berlin Wall?

    Superior Firepower?

  12. Eddie Getting Tilted

Yes. Reagan and his bold stand against the commies brought the wall down. I think it's fair to say that Reagan and the U.S. military had superior firepower.

Funny, every photo/video I've seen of OWS is not the disorganized "gang of kids with cardboard signs" Eddie is so desperate to paint them as

    False.

Is that some kind of cartoon rendition you saw in the United States? (You guys get the best propaganda. I'm jealous.)

That's funny, because two years after Reagan's legendary "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall," the wall was still there.

When a bunch of Germans started a revolution towards reunification, what did Gorbachev do? He kept his nose out of it.

    So did the Americans.

Let me know if you can spot Reagan or Gorbachev or even some superior firepower anywhere in here:

Well, Eddie needs to try harder to work from a position that acknowledges facts. It's more conducive to a rewarding discussion.

Look, I understand that it's absolutely excruciating for you libs to give a man like Reagan(who just so happens to be the greatest American president in the past 100 years) credit for accomplishing anything great. I get it. But if you can't understand how those protesters in Berlin where emboldened and supported by the U.S., specifically by Reagan's cold war victory and push for the fall of the wall, then I suppose we'll just have to agree to disagree.

    I never called them disorganized.

Oh, look. Yet another American cowboy historian. Cute.

First of all, I'm not a liberal.

Second, I give credit where credit is due. Reagan did a lot to wear down the Soviets until their inevitable collapse, and much of this influence has to do with the events that led up to the fall of the Berlin Wall. However, a lot of those things were shitty. They were heavy-handed and in many cases abusive.

Regardless, is was ultimately the hundreds of thousands of Germans who opposed the Berlin Wall that brought it down. They did it by bringing things to the brink of massacre. Reagan couldn't have prevented that.

Will you give credit where credit is due please? Then we can move on and talk about how civil disobedience might factor in on OWS. Wouldn't that be nice?

Eddie, not everyone here is a liberal. They may not be as conservative as you or may even be more conservative than you.

I guess I could then take some credit for People Power in the Philippines because there were some meetings that happened in my house and with direct family members who were instrumental in convincing Cory Aquino to press Ferdinand Marcos.

He had all the guns and militia, not to mention Martial Law, and support of the United States. Oh look at that, shit, the poor brown people that overthrew Ferdinand Marcos didn't have superior firepower.

Actually, at TFP, it's not. You're the only one wasting your time doing so, and it makes you look like a spoiled child, especially when you won't deign to return the favor.

Anyone wonder why I just lurk Politics these days? See the above attitude, which is rampant on both sides.
