You can't help everyone. You can't effectively help others without helping yourself first. You can fake it for a long time, but self-neglect will catch up to you.

Within reason, yes. Some people deserve contempt, although at times it is wise to respect the position if not the person. For example, if I ever met him I'd refer to George W. Bush as Mr. President instead of draft-dodging dumbass.

If at first you don't succeed you should probably give up skydiving.

When a book worm asks your advice, suggest an applicable book.

Don't say I told you so.
But at the same time you have to say I told you so.

Otherwise they often forget who told them...and repeat the pain.

Face it, many want to be saved and then resent being saved.
    Fuck them. let them fail.

    So which worse???

Trying despite the potential for failure...and then ending it because it failed.
OR not trying because it might fail.
OR not ending because you fear failure.

Real bravery is doing it despite the potential for loss.
Is it truly a win...if you were guaranteed a win?

    To paraphrase many before me...

and MANY other phrases like that...Google it.

    Try
    Get better at failing.
Be audacious enough to do it.
Be wise enough to keep your eyes open while you're doing it.

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.
Anything worth doing well is worth doing poorly until you get better at it.

Your first jump is usually taken with an instructor attached to you.

Yeah, I'm being a buzzkill over something that wasn't meant to be taken literally. If you knew my mood over the last five+ weeks..............

Unless you're in the army. Basic airborne qual is a 3 week course, ground week, tower week, jump week. In jump week you jump.... no instructor attached...

But you don't get to pull your own chutes, right? Static line pulls as you jump out of the plane. Skydiving is done at 12000 feet, a bit more freefall. That's how I did it when I was 26, with an experienced instructor riding tandem and him in control.

My life seems to be a series of repeats, when will I get better at it?

Of course military training will be different, MUCH more intensive before any real jumping takes place, hence my use of "usually." And the military is protected from lawsuits.

Even a half assed workout is better than no workout at all. If you have been doing nothing then something is more than nothing. Go walk a couple miles. Go the the high school track and jog the straights and walk the curves. Do some bar body muscles (chest and arms). Do something. After a couple weeks you will find you start to look forward to it. You eventually start to relish the challenge and then it starts to become fun to find out what you can actually accomplish. You will find that it starts to affect other areas of your life. Like your food choices.

When someone tells you to re-do something that you've already done, and the instructions they provide tells you they want it done exactly the way you've done... try not to get grumpy. It means you have failed to communicate. Present the data differently and send it in again.

No, if you do an MFF course like HALO or HAHO you open your own chute.

Stop trying to exceed expectations all the time. It only increases expectations. Sometimes, just give them exactly what they've asked for, and turn it in. It's better for your mental health.
