Ok, this has to be one of the best lines I've heard in a while...
This from a segment of society that has said repeatedly (or inferred it) that Obama IS a Muslim.

Well, perhaps the Pope IS qualified here. ;)

That and Obama has shown more "Christian Values" than Trump has ever.

And yes...this is a pointless announcement...with no bearing on reality.
But it was fuckin' funny anyway on so many levels. :D

I walked into AAA this morning, just as they opened, with Littlegirly. She won over everyone who worked there. They said she was the highlight of their week. She was super sweet, and found an excuse to interact with each and every one of the people on staff. We walked away with a massive amount of practical maps and guidebooks, and also everything that each of them could find that was for kids - including a kids' national parks guide, a map to color, and a Disney World poster. I think it made Littlegirly's week, too.

My cat thinks the sound of me in the bathroom is a signal that she needs to come running for pets.

So I didn't go to work today although I was given the opportunity. Striking the balance between work and home. Plenty to do in both places.

    CinnamonGirl The Cheat is GROUNDED!

Discovered last night that I was a "leash kid." Back in like, 1983. Apparently I crawled out of my stroller and hid in a clothes rack at the mall for a good 15 minutes, which was (understandably) quite the freakout for my mom. She got one of those wrist things with the telephone-cord-looking tether after that. I was amused.

I almost went off the side of a mountain wearing mine. My parents were really glad they got in on that trend in 1978.

Really sleepy after an afternoon in the sun. Cuddled with hubby for a while, napped a bit, but still ready for bed at the normal hour.

Being out in the sun and heat really takes something out of me, especially if also high humidity. The heat index here was over 110 several days last week.

Sig and I go out for walks in the afternoon, but they're getting shorter all the time. I'm peeling on my forehead and nose, my hair is bleaching out, and the top part of my freckled boobage is starting to look like they're made of Spam. Uffda!

Yeah, we floated the river. I pretty much expect a relaxed evening and reasonable bedtime after doing that in the afternoon, which is fine with me as it's one of my favorite things to do.

I saw Ghostbusters today. It was good. I mean, not perfect. But good. I wore my Ghostbusters t-shirt. You could say I'm a fan of the franchise.

I thought maybe I'd talk about it on the internet. I went to /r/ghostbusters to see what was up. I figured, surely now that it's out and getting good reviews some of the bile spewing will have stopped, right?

Clearly I understand these people even less well than I thought I did.

I also enjoyed the movie. It's interesting how on rotten tomatoes there is usually parity between the critics and the audience, with the audience usually being more generous with lousy movies. Not this time. It's really sad that so many basement dwellers are having their childhoods wrecked by 4 women. There are probably a lot of tear soaked fedoras right now. Oh well, the future keeps becoming the present. Someday a woman will be president too.

That's just it, though. Whose childhood is being ruined here?

I mean, seriously. I am wearing a Ghostbusters t-shirt right now. It's one of my favourites. As a kid I had all the toys, including the Ecto 1 and the firehouse playset. Magpie can quote the movie now because I've watched it that many times in her presence. I was raised on Ghostbusters. My child will be raised on Ghostbusters. This shit is deeply embedded in my soul.

Even if the new movie had been terrible, it doesn't affect any of that.

The fact that it's not terrible still doesn't affect any of that.

We didn't all retroactively decide that Empire Strikes Back was terrible after Revenge of the Sith came out. How does a modern day movie, good or bad, ruin a classic in any sense?

It's just so much stupid "muh privilege" bullshit. It's so aggravating because they act like anyone who isn't offended that the new movie dared to vary the formula a little isn't a true fan somehow. It's even worse because now when I wear my favourite Ghostbusters shirt I have to worry about being lumped in with those troglodytes. I cannot express how frustrated and sad it makes me that something I love is being co-opted by these shitstains for their perceived victimhood by some kind of evil SJW conspiracy. Even after Dan Aykroyd told them to chill out. Even after Ray Fucking Stantz himself said it. Nothing will convince these people that they're wrong. Nothing. And I just don't know how to deal with that.

Whew. Been hanging onto that bit of frustration for a while.

On the other hand, Kate McKinnon. Holy shit, Kate McKinnon. Holtzmann is easily my favourite of the new bunch.

    I enjoyed it.
Holtzman (Kate McKinnon) is my new crush to be sure and I hope the next movie is mostly about her but the other folks did just fine.
What I likes was that there were kids, girls especially in the theatre just digging on the movie.
They will be the new generation of fans.
Screw these obnoxious, if it can't be my way, then nobody can have it, red pill, dick wads.

My God, yes, Holtzmann. I would watch two hours of that. I would watch a whole series of that.

I also like that Holtzmann was allowed to be gay without having to be The Gay One. I know Paul Feig has said he downplayed it to make the studio happy but I actually think it worked out fairly well.

Whether I have a boy or a girl my child will be exposed to Ghostbusters, both old and new. But if I do have a girl I like the idea of her being able to look up to these characters the way I did with the original team.

You both ought to try a Newf in the shower with you. "Yes, you're a water dog and I like you, too; but there isn't room for both of us".

Going to be 90 here today so my day has already kicked off: not even 7am, the house is clean, and I'm going to cook dinner here in a minute.

I am not an early riser but given that he was at my door delivering a piece of our mail at 8 a.m., my neighbour must be. Fifteen minutes later, the tree trimming guy upset many neighbour dogs by trimming our palm tree. Our dog still hasn't gotten over it and I am feeling grumpy. God bless the HOA.
