Have you purchased birth control for someone other than yourself?

Have you purchased birth control for someone other than yourself?
    What about for a minor?
Have you ever been approached by someone who asked for your help with contraceptives?

Technically it's legal in the US to buy condoms regardless of age, but what about other methods of birth control?
What are the laws in your area regarding youth purchasing contraceptives without parental consent? Do you know them?

I don't know of any restrictions here. My understanding is that minors can even get BC by prescription w/o parental permission.

I've personally never had occasion to be asked, or feel the need, to buy any for anyone else.

Nope. I've never thought about it, really. PP will give the pill or condoms to any age anonymously in the town where I grew up. Florida is also pretty good about making contraceptives available to all. IF you ask.

    No.

I don't know what the laws are here, but with Texas being a conservative bible belt state, restrictive laws wouldn't surprise me.

I've picked up birth control methods for girlfriends in the past. Not really for anyone else. Though I did a stint at the turn of the '90s volunteering for AIDS Project Los Angeles, and often directed visitors to the big tub of free condoms they had on offer there.

I absolutely would buy birth control for my kids, when they get old enough (I mean, biologically old enough, not necessarily to the age at which I think it appropriate to be fucking), because better they be exploring their sexuality earlier than I approve of in a safe and educated manner than doing so unsafely and ignorantly. Bad sex choices by adolescents shouldn't come with consequences of disease or death, or even just teen pregnancy.

Buying tampons one time for my wife was more than enough of an experience for me.......

Does picking up birth control for your girlfriend count? I think it could be argued pretty strongly that birth control for your girlfriend is also birth control for you.

Birth control doesn't seem like a purchase that ought to be remarkable or controversial enough to require someone to do it for you. But I guess it's different everywhere.

Turns out teenagers like to fuck, and will probably do it even if they can't get condoms. Just give them the damned condoms.

EDIT: Also, this is just talking about contraceptives in a purely sexual context, but it's worth noting as well that young women often take hormonal birth control for reasons that have nothing to do with sex. So still not really a big deal.

I don't get that. I buy feminine hygiene products for magpie all the time. What's to be embarrassed about? Are you worried the cashier will think they're for you?

I've bought tampons for two wives and two daughters
I can even tell you what the different colors mean.
I didn't buy them for other people but I have loaned out birth control on more than one occasion.
I went through a rather optimistic stage as a teenager where I figured if I carried protection with me it would increase the chances of getting some.
What happened was I mostly loaned them to people who were actually getting some.

We should only be seen purchasing manly items like firearms, ammunition, and booze.

    Lol. It don't bother me..

To answer the ops question. I bought condoms when,i was a teenager, and in the county that I love in you can go to the county health department and ask,for condoms and they will give them to you free, or at least they did years ago.

Unintentionally. I used to keep a stock of Plan B on hand because my college health center gave it away for free. I ended up letting a friend use my stash when she needed it.

I purchased birth control over the counter in Cambodia for a friend in Singapore. I bought her a year's supply.

I bought my son a box of condoms before he left for his gap year. Making sure he was prepared for anything.

I was never that optimistic as a teenager :(.

I hope that the folks who borrowed the birth control didn't return the actual item .

Not so much 'borrowed' as "I'll buy you some to replace it." but only one person ever did.

I gave my friend a couple of Kimono condoms and asked him to tell me how they were. I am still waiting for his report back.

I used to work for a condom company, and regularly gave them away to staff. Surprisingly, I also had most of the <25 y.o. female staff at one time or another quietly come to me for pregnancy tests, which we also produced.

I've never been a position where buying birth control for anybody else made sense.

Feminine hygiene products are fine, as long as you write out exactly what you want. I'm hardly an expert (nor do I want to be).

    I understood that.

Feminine hygiene products are no big deal, after growing up with a mother and two older sisters, and being married for 28 years. I did hear it a few times for buying the wrong brand of tampons.

Wife, "I want Playtex, unscented, one large package of regular, and smaller package of super absorbency."

Me, "I'm about one small step away from saying if you're that fucking picky, go buy your own goddamn tampons."
