    Spent my New Years weekend cleaning and clearing closets, Sandy moved in last year and wow is it out of control. I am a minimalist, she brought a life time. Still didn't get done. Then cooked lasagne and enchilada casserole, just for freezing.

    My mom got Season 1 of True Detective for Christmas, because she loves Matthew McConaughey. I didn't really figure it was a show she'd like, but okay. I talked to her last night, and she and my stepdad watched the whole season in two days. "So, you liked it?" I asked. "Well...it was interesting. We had to fast-forward through all the sex, though."

    My mom cracks me up.

    Mom got me a balaclava for Christmas. Wore it walking his morning, and my face was SO WARM. In 20 degree weather. It was awesome.

    We're currently in the midst of a cold snap. Last night was down to -20. Right now it's quite mild out, a practically balmy -12.

    I made my first pot of beans on my own. While not as good as my mom's, they are pretty good. I've been scared for some reason to make them by myself.
    Hopefully they improve even more upon sitting and absorbing the flavors.

    We received a gift, it was pinto bean seasoning from the Hispanic store. It was a first for me, we normally use shank portion ham bone with salt and pepper, however it was good. I always use hot sauce in my bowl.
