NFL 2015 Season Thread

Discussion in 'General Discussions' started by Borla, Feb 19, 2015.

  1. After taking time to digest Thursday night's debacle, my conclusion is that the Lions deserved to lose. They played 15 minutes of great offense. They played 30 minutes of great defense. Then they started playing "not to lose" football. There was no anticipation of the Packers' half-time adjustments. There was none of the aggressive attack of their first half performance. They allowed the scene to be set for the "miracle" finish. It should never have been close enough for that to happen. The coaches have to bear the blame and the shame.

They were too conservative on their final possession when one more first down would have sealed the victory. Three unimaginative runs and a punt...

The Packers were able to take advantage and they performed with the game on the line. Give them loads of credit for that! But, overall, the second half was gift-wrapped and delivered to them by the Detroit coaches. Not going to get into the facemask call debate. Things never should have gotten to the point where that kind of thing could impact the outcome. Then, the way the defense was aligned for the Hail Mary attempt...

    /Same Old Lions:eek:

    Woo hoo!!

Earlier today the UH Cougars won the AAC Championship today by beating the Temple Owls 24-13. Their record is now 12-1.

Yesterday HC Tom Herman signed a contract extension through the 2020 season. Sometimes coaching contracts in college football might as well be written on toilet paper, but hopefully Herman will stick around.

    They suck?

I hate posting from my phone. I'll try this again--Hoyer really comes through in the clutch....not!

The Bengals had an easy time with the Browns. One of the announcers suggested that little johnny will probably be back as the starter next week. The Browns should take dives--as if trying to win would result in a different outcome --the rest of the season.

And the Texans get to host the Patriots next week.

The Panthers v. Saints game was very entertaining, although neither defense has much to be proud of.

I hear & read a lot of comments about the bad refereeing in the NFL this season. Judging from what I saw today during several games, yes, the referees suck. FTR one of the missed calls would've nullified a Texans' touchdown.

JJ Watt broke his left hand, will still start. Gronk will play, which is bad news for the Texans. Even with the injuries, I don't see the Patriots losing three in a row, even on the road.

The Browns moved little johnny back to starter. I'm seeing mixed messages. They bench him to teach him a lesson about maturing, cutting out the partying and then lying about it. But when the Browns play like crap, even by their standards, little johnny gets the starting job back. Are they hoping he plays well enough to generate some interest from other teams so they can unload him? If he wins some games, aren't the Browns hurting their position in the 2016 draft? Maybe they're considering keeping him?

Can you believe that the dallas cowgirls still have a chance to win the NFC East? The NFL should declare all NFC East teams ineligible for the playoffs :p.

Going against Borla is like deciding to piss on a live electrical outlet: You know in advance the only result is going to be pain.

A huge Thank You! to the Eagles, Redskins, & Packers.

The phuqing 'girls got me worried early in the 3rd quarter.

    ---------------

It looks like the Bengals are going to need to seriously buck up.

    ---------------

Should I even mention the Falcons?

On that note, congrats to the Panthers.

    ---------------

Time to cook dinner so that I can watch the Texans game, hopefully uninterrupted. And without disappointment (hah, I live in the real world, the Patriots are a great team, and the Texans aren't).

I actually feel bad for the Bengals and their fans, this finally looked like the year that they'd get over the hump and at least get to the AFC Championship or something. They need Dalton back by the playoffs for that.

    It's official:

The Houston Texans football team is pathetic and worthless. If they can't play any better than what they've showed tonight against a beat-up Patriots team they don't deserve to be called a NFL team. With the exception of some decent defense in parts they haven't shown anything.....at all.

I hope that they lose the rest of their games (I won't be watching any of them) to give a real football team the AFC South crown, and to improve their position in the 2016 draft. The Texans need all of the help they can get.

Yes, by the Jaguars of all teams. What's next, the Titans storm back to win the AFC South? That's actually impossible (I think). The Colts loss made the Texans pathetic effort against the Patriots even worse. The only good news (bad news since I think the Texans should tank the rest of the season) is the Texans might be beat the Colts. It's bad when you want your team to lose rather than get embarrassed in the POs.

I didn't read the game summary; did the Falcons suffer some key injuries? Maybe the Texans and Falcons can swap teams.

    The cowgirls lost tonight.

The dallas cowgirls will not make the playoffs this season. Which makes 20 years/seasons of mediocrity.

When I read the game reports something jumped out at me:

The Jets had to rely on Randy "Uh-Oh" Bullock to kick the game winning FG.

OK, I watched the Texans game anyway.

16-10; it wasn't a pretty win. The Texans got their first win EVER in Indianapolis, and more importantly greatly improved their chances of making the POs.

I don't understand the flag being picked-up on the offensive pass interference call against the Texans, unless the officials decided both players were making contact. I'm sure that Colts fans will whine long and loud about it, as well as the hit on Hasselback. TFB!
