Yeah I really thought A. Luck and the Colts were a sure win.

    CinnamonGirl The Cheat is GROUNDED!

The Bengals are looking a lot better than my Reds did today. Also, I'm kinda liking this "baseball game in the afternoon, football game in the evening" thing.

The Colts losing, is fine with me. I see that the Seahawks lost in OT.

At least the Texans made a game of it in the second half. The D tightened down, & the O made a run late..........under Mallet.

    The Giants are still....................the Giants.

Coughlin made a really stupid stupid coaching decision. Their prevent defense didn't prevent anything.

Still have to give romo & the 'girls credit for doing what had to be done.

  5. I'm still getting used to football starting at 10am on the West Coast. I do have a nice excuse to have mimosas though. It's how Bengals Brunch was born. I switched to beer at 1 though when the Bengals kicked off.

My wife hates football season. My watching the Texans she can tolerate, my watching other games she doesn't like. In my defense, I only do so when it's a really good match-up, other times I just switch channels to check the score. She hates how the games screw-up the Sunday TV schedule (boo-fucking-hoo).

  7. Text from QW: Any movies you'd like to go see?
    Me: No thanks.... Football!
    QW: OK

    Easy peasy.

  8. BabyDaddy got me NFL Game Pass for my birthday so that I could watch the Bengals. Our friends who play Fantasy Football with BabyDaddy come over so they can watch their players.

BabyDaddy does not plan things on Sundays anymore because he knows we're busy that day.

Someone asked me if I managed DaddySquirrel's team. No. I hate FF and I can only focus on one team and don't really know how other players/teams are unless I hate them and focus on how I'd like for them to lose everything.

That sounds a lot like me. I do check the scores on-line, and sometimes read a select few game summaries if the match-up was interesting, or if there was something unusual about the game, or maybe to see if a former Texan is doing well (Andre Johnson).

Researching games for things like which teams are ranked where, run defense v. run offense for example, injuries reports, homefield record/advantage v. road record, and so on seems like too much work. There are sports sites where the condensed info can be found, but I'm not that interested. I'll stick to rooting for the Texans and maybe a couple of teams that I'd like to see do well (Detroit Lions), and hating the teams that I hate (namely the dallas cowgirls).

Oh yeah, aggravating some fellow TFPers is also fun :p.

  10. When I had a job that allowed me more time for frivelous things other than just checking TFP/Facebook every once in awhile, I would spend time on ESPN.com more.

When Bud Adams passed away, RIP, my first thought was whoever takes over the Titans needs to replace those "too pretty, i.e. wimpy" multi-colored uniforms. The Oilers Columbia (Baby :() Blue uniforms were hideous. I used to joke that the Steelers uniforms gave them an automatic 10 point edge over the Oilers.

That said, the Love Ya Blue era in Houston was a blast.

What the hell happened to the Vikings? 3pts? Really? I was expecting some great play from AP on his new opening day.

As I expected, OB has named Ryan Mallet the starting QB. It seemed apparent since OB was first hired that Mallet was the QB he wanted. Hopefully he'll remain healthy so that the coaches can see what he can/can't do. I say leave him as the starter through the good and the bad. Don't distract him with the 'Hoyer threat.'

If the '15 season is a bust with Mallet, so be it. The Texans can then pursue a better quality QB--something that many felt OB should've done immediately after being hired. Top notch QBs don't grow on trees.

i thought it was funny that gary coubiac wants to keep peyton under center and wants to run the offense his way, and the whole time manning kept getting sacked. and when he let peyton have it his way he started to complete passes and they started to score points

Poutin' Peyton wound up with some very impressive stats, a great game by any standard...but...there were times when he looked old & tired. Of course there are many NFL QBs who would gladly take "old & tired" with those numbers. One of Kubiak's criticisms here in Houston was his, and Rick "Teflon" Dennison's, conservative play calling. As the season progresses it'll be interesting to see what plays they Dennison call. With a QB like PM, there are going to be times when the coach just needs to let the QB do his thing.

Damn, it's a shame that the former Texans that I wish well, Kubiak/Broncos & Andre Johnson/Colts, wound up with AFC teams.
