Interesting. Overgeneralization is usually a linguistic error toddlers make (cows are animals, therefore all animals moo). Fossilization (the cementing of certain speech patterns particular to the native language in the non-native language) is much more common in adults.

Yaaay, linguistics. I knew that graduate credit would come in handy someday (no, seriously, I use this stuff with ELL students all the time).

 

I just wanted to make a pointless announcement that I'm making a pointless announcement in Pointless Announcements.

But there's no PA system available to announce it loud enough, so it's pointless.

 

In a week and a half I am doing a charter in the Gulf of Mexico. First time doing a private charter there. I've done a few in the Great Lakes, and I've fished on a party barge style boat in the Gulf, but this should be a good time.

 

I'm going to be up in the panhandle area, party way between Destin and Panama City Beach. The charter is out of PCB. Weather should be upper 80s or low 90s. So hot, but not unbearable.

I'm guessing we'll mostly go after red snapper and grouper, just because they are more plentiful and easier to catch. But that time of year there are blue marlin, mahi mahi, flounder, black and yellowfin tuna, amberjack, redfish, king mackerel, and a bunch of other species in that particular area. I'm trying to keep expectations fairly low, but it'd be awesome to get into something like a decent sized tuna or a marlin.

 

I don't remember how old I was, but it was well past toddler age that I "overgeneralized" money into time. Time is money, so they say. so money is time, right?
Anyway, I assumed that since a quarter of a dollar was 25 cents that a quarter of an hour would be 25 minutes, so, a quarter after two was 2:25 in my mind.

 

Went to the first collegiate game of the season tonight. I put my hubs in charge of getting us tickets from Stubhub. He surprised me with seats on the 20, two rows up. Here I'd been looking at the end zone. It was amazing.
