I eat Asian regularly. I just avoid the sweet saucy stuff and don't eat the rice. Like I said, 80/20 compliance.

I'm starting to do some stuff with Almond flour, but it is not the taste I'm used to.

Right now, I'd kill a man for a glass of sweet tea. I've never went this long in my life without drinking sweet tea. Even when I was in the middle of the ocean on a cruise ship, I found a way to make single glasses of sweet tea for meals.

I'm not eating rice, just don't want to get used to having it for meals. I'll start leaning on it as a starch. Been doing a lot of slow cooker meats and spreading it over the week.

Cauli-rice is a surprisingly close replacement. And I use Korean sweet potato starch noodles... Even with spaghetti and meatballs. Learning how to drink unsweetened tea with a twist of lime was a blessing.

There are some other flours that can help, too. I do paleo-zone so we've got that shit honed in.

Thanks for the tip! I just placed a hold for it at the library.

My upper traps are pretty awesome, but I suspect I need to work a bit on the middle and lower fibres. Generally, my problem is that I have well-developed pecs, anterior delts, quads, and calves, whereas in proportion to those areas, my back and hamstrings are underdeveloped.

This has for the most part been the result of a lot of "push" training with martial arts and very little "pull" training to counterbalance it. I'm now working on correcting that. I'm doing some extra resistance training to focus on my general back musculature, lateral/posterior delt fibres, hamstrings, and erector spinae muscles.

So bent-over rows, targeted shoulder lifts, and Romanian deadlifts mainly. I'm still doing basic stretching, but I will soon add some specific stretches to help fix problem areas. I'm also thinking of adding a foam roller routine.

I've had long-term issues with posture, so I hope all of this will help fix that.

I focus a lot on vinyasa flows and surya namaskar a, b, and c to work on my back and posture. Flowing from high to low plank, up dog and into down dog really helps loosen. The warrior poses have done wonders for my spinal erectors, posture, neck, etc. And reading what Kelly Starrett theorizes about the musculature of the body and how we move made a huge difference in my practice. Switching from typical to power classes gave me the push.

I miss yoga. I'm getting there, though. I went bowling the other day, not even thinking about how it could hurt my arms, and despite some tingling afterward, there was no neck pain the next day. That's positive.

Most of my lower body flexibility is in my hips and quads. I'm now wondering how balancing things out will improve my martial arts training.

I can now put my hands flat on the floor in a forward fold after about 3 minutes of yoga. I've never been able to do this before. My hamstrings are a mess, so much that it hurts to sit down a lot, so I do a tooooonnnnnn of hammy work. You should notice a pretty significant change, I think. It all kind of comes together.

Yeah, normally I can barely reach my ankles in a forward bend. After an hour or two of martial arts I can just reach my toes (but I can't stay there). I think my worst flexibility issue right now is my hamstrings.

For me, a foam roller helped a lot with hammy flexibility, as did a lot of yoga strap stretches.

I am Mr. Posterior. Back, butt, and calves have always been naturally strong and big. I've had to work hardest on quads and pecs. Love me some low bar squats.

I've decided to reduce my weights for a while and work light, full body and slowly work my way back up. It's the hardest thing in the world, to not lift heavy things... I'm hoping my tendons will recuperate, but my muscles are bored.

I went to my first Martial Arts class and LOVED it. Best workout I've done since I started the diet. Already signed up for a month of classes and I hope it kicks my ass like it did tonight.

I like kicking things a lot better than doing cardio in the living room.

If I hadn't lost the weight, I would have NEVER made it through that class. One more thing that shows me I'm going in the right direction.

Be careful. You might find yourself still doing it three years later. :D

One thing you'll learn: You get better at it, but it never gets easier.
