Letterman's last night as the host of the Late Show was last night.

I didn't watch it. I plan to avoid any highlights as much as possible. His bumbling idiot 'style' never appealed to me, his stand-up comedy even less so.

I recall an early episode where he pulled a prank on an unsuspecting random person (this was back when punking meant homosexual prostitution, not pulling a prank). The woman was clearly not impressed, and several times Letterman commented to her, "You think I'm a jerk." My thought was maybe not quite a jerk, but definitely an idiot.

With that said, David Letterman appealed to a lot of people and had a very long stay on the Late Show. Along the way he made an extremely large amount of money, and will continue to do so.

Oops, I got the date wrong .

So, do you like love him, hate him, like him, dislike him, or really just don't care one way or the other?

Eh, his style of comedy has never been my thing and I think he's a terrible and lazy interviewer.

I remember watching his final NBC shows. How he changed networks networks ranked with up there with Amos & Andy and Jack Benny doing the same thing.

    Ehhh,

Johnny was worth staying up late to watch. Jay and Dave were not.

I never got into Letterman. By the time he showed up, I had mostly stopped watching TV.

I did like his confession about sex and blackmail. I thought he handled that extremely well.

I never cared for him. He always seemed like kind of an ass. And his band leader Paul Shaffer was gross. I think the joke was on us. They worked to be stupid and unfunny to see how long they could stay on the air. And we as Americans showed once again that we will watch some stupid shit.

Letterman has never been my favorite, and I rarely watched, but I respect his success and longevity.

I used to really like Leno until he screwed Conan.

Now it is Conan or Fallon for me.

Fact is,I don't really follow any of them. But Fallon has the celebrity skits that I'll occasionally see on YouTube. He also spun off lip sync battle and I think that's a pretty good show. I like his interactions with his guests.

Last night when we went to see Fallon in person he came out into the crowd during a 20-30 min break. He just hung out with us answering questions and telling stories. Lots of people asked for advice because they were aspiring actors or writers. He was extremely sincere in trying to be helpful to them. It was fun to watch.

I'd watch Letterman here & there, if he had an interesting celebrity or music act.
I liked his comedy, but not something to go out of my way for.
    I preferred Craig Ferguson.

I do think Jimmy Kimmel is going to take over Letterman's place style-wise...the cutting wit, not putting up with stupid celebs (or at least lampooning them), the stupid human ploys, etc.
The others right now are too fawning and relying too much on absurd games and skits.

I love his duets with Stevie Nicks and Neil Young. Of course, I'll still go to bed and watch them on Youtube.
