Things aren't going the way I'd like them to...so incredibly frustrating. I'm trying not to pull my hair out about this, but the control freak in me is flipping out.

In very humid areas this is sometimes done to prevent the toilet tank from sweating. A plumber could probably extend the cold line from the tub/shower or vanity to the toilet. Still a hassle, but confines the mess to one room and saves the kitchen ceiling.

I now get physically angry whenever these jobs come in. Consistently. Even though I know they're coming.

If I were actually successful, I could do that whole "learn how to say no" thing that those mentory coachy types always talk about.

    Wouldn't that be nice?

It's still uncanny how the timing is always off on these. It would have been better if I got them yesterday. Now I have to work on this shit while also finding the time to get ready for my tax appointment tomorrow.

    Fucking shit.

Or I could have found out earlier that I needed to do more work to get ready for the tax appointment.

    Either way: Fucking shit.

It's like they're spying on me and trying to drive me crazy.

  4. I am seriously sick of arguing about GMO's. I believe in Organic; I have health issues that prevent me from eating processed garbage. And yet opinions are many and irritating as all hell.

  5. I gave a speech to high schoolers today and a small mentoring session to those who are interested in technology. I come from the SAME public school system as these kids. I found it very disappointing that they are still not informing them on the various options and opportunities they have in different industries. They seemed to be in the same mind set I was at their age. So very sad. I expected so much more.

Be careful what you ask for ...

Molly grew one hell of a coat this winter. I took her into a groomer to get things under control.
My absolutely beautiful Newfoundland looks like a flippin' POODLE
Newfie head and tail with a crewcut inbetween. The good news is that she is suprisingly lean. She may look like a porker when furry; but she's really nicely proportioned.

I'll be an itty bit more careful, next time I bring her in. "Do whatever it takes to get her knot free" may need some limitations.

When are we supposed to have time for that? Seriously. And how am I supposed to do that? I'm not arguing the point that it would be great to have some kind of mentoring in place for students, and a lot of schools do (mine does a senior project, and most kids choose to do something towards a future career), but running those kinds of programs takes a LOT of time and effort. Counseling (which is the school department usually in charge of this stuff) is typically understaffed and overworked (IEPs, 504s come first, then student socio-emotional health, then advising for college, career technical education advising, trade school advising).

That said, when students ask me for info, I do my best to provide, and I'm really, really fortunate in that I have friends in a variety of industries. Lots of teachers don't, though.

  8. Not blaming the teachers and staff, more so the leadership, administration, and direction. Example: I attended High School in Ft. Lauderdale for a year, the system there was great. You were allowed to actually select the classes that interested you as long as the course fell into a requirement area. The curriculum was expansive. The process was well mapped out so students not only had a good selection but was able to see how they fit into the bigger picture. This was before even meeting a counselor.

For the rest of high school, i returned Here to Chicago, there's some schools that don't offer choices. Your classes are mapped out from freshman year. In lots of cases , you don't see a counselor outside of freshman year and senior year. There's a 50/50 chance that they care due to underpayment, general lack of interest, and no faith in the curriculum. Obviously it's not entirely their fault. Not even mostly their fault. The administration here just sucks. The entire state is corrupt and every department screams "broke". I worked for the state for a while and this place is nowhere near broke. Funding doesn't go where it needs to. Leadership and lots of administration and support groups are highly overpaid. Then they have mismanaged pensions to deal with.

No, not blaming the staff who directly work with the kids. Not at all. My wife used to be a teacher. (In the long long ago) It just irritates me how mismanaged this place is. The people suffer far too much.

Trying to be patient while my husband changes the oil on our 4Runner.

It's very difficult. The whole thing has been a giant exercise in ADHD.

And condoms suck. I miss the pill.

Target pharmacy is awesome. Since I had refills already, they just went ahead and filled it for me. It's only $9 off-insurance, so it's no biggie.

I'm allergic to latex, so condoms were a bad idea that one time. Rashes *inside* suck horribly.

One of the downsides of social media is dealing with folks you don't to deal with, especially when it's a relatives.
