Broad daylight, worker decides to urinate in my neighbor's front yard?

I am working from home today and sitting on my back patio doing emails. A van pulls up to a house on the street behind me. My back yard has a clear view of the front of the house. It is a foreclosure. Two guys get out of the van and start pulling tools or something out. I'm guessing the bank is paying to keep the yard up at that point.

One of the dudes walks right up to the house, faces the wall in a corner, full view of the street, and pees against the house. They walk around the yard a bit more, load back up the few things they had gotten out, and pull away.

At this point I see it is a van for one of those places that rents inflatable jump houses and such for children. My guess is that they figured out they had the wrong address when they saw the house was empty. The entire thing lasted maybe 3-5 minutes, and they left maybe 1-2 minute after he took his leak. It is a fairly nice neighborhood, residential, and he was in direct view of half a dozen or more houses, not trying to conceal himself at all. There were even large bushes he could've went behind 20-30' away and didn't.

Within a couple blocks there are fast food places and gas stations with public bathrooms. They had to have passed at least a couple just to get into my neighborhood.

I took what I think is an appropriate action, which I'll post after a few replies.

    What would you do?

Dude's obviously a psychopath. I would've stayed inside, written all the details down, maybe call the cops.

Yuck! I'd contact the business he works for. That's just gross at best; at worst, it's public exposure!

Here were my main issues with it.

    1) It was broad daylight.
    2) He made no effort to conceal himself or be discreet.
    3) It is a nice suburban neighborhood, full of families. Some of the preschool aged children were out playing a couple houses away not much earlier. They could've just as easily walked out while he was doing it, or been looking out the window.
    4) The name of the business was plastered all over the van. I'd be pissed (pun intended) if I owned that business and found out that was going on while they represented me in public.

Yep. And if I recall from pictures you've shared, there's not a lot to shield one's view in your neighborhood.

Nope. Some of the backyards have fences, but most are the vinyl picket type, not full privacy.

And he was in the front yard.

We have one vote for maybe calling the cops. One vote for contacting the business.

Anyone else before I let you know what I did?

The cops might care but since they're gone I don't think so.
Calling the company seems your best bet.

I hate seeing anyone brazenly urinating in public, but it's not so easy to find appropriate venues to transact this kind of business.
They probably wouldn't have been welcome to just walk in and pee in any of those "public" places, given all the signs that warn "Restrooms for Customers Only."

Of course, this kind of thing varies tremendously from place to place, and I have no idea about your area.

It would be incredibly easy to find a good, clean, friendly bathroom here. It's a small town just outside the suburbs. Literally named one of the 10 best towns in IL to live in last month (though admittedly, being in IL does lower the bar considerably ;) ). There are two exits they could've gotten off on, depending on which direction the came from. Both exits have a large Pilot truck stop at them, public bathrooms are available there, you can even shower if you like. Both exits have a McDonald's. Both also have a second large gas station with public restrooms. Both have Dunkin Donuts and a Subway. One has a Wendy's, Taco Bell, and Arby's. The other has a Jimmy John's, a second McDonald's, three more gas stations, and a Casey's. Within one stop light of the entrance of my subdivision there are at least five or six public rest rooms in recognizable chains (gas station or fast food).

A huge portion of my town's local economy is built on being a stop along two major interstates that converge a few miles from here (thus two separate exits, both with tons of facilities). There are truck stops, gas stations, and fast food in abundance. I've used many of them for a quick stop myself. I don't recall ever seeing any "customer only" signs in any of the fast food or gas stations here, and I know I've never been hassled for using them.

As I've mentioned before, I'm on the road myself every week, usually traveling hundreds of miles at a pop. I never have had to resort to peeing on someone else's house for lack of better choices. :p

Yeah I don't think you can really get away with that in polite society.
Out here in the woods where I live it's rare for me to go a full non-work day without peeing in the woods.

I'm guessing you called the business.

I looked the company up on Yelp. They had several very poor reviews, including complaints of how the employees driving company vans had damaged the property of neighbors to their customers. So I added a review telling what I saw, with enough info that the owner/manager could verify it was not made up if they cared to check. I figured they could address it with the employees if they liked. Worst case, if they didn't, at least future customers would have the potential to know what kind of people they'd be dealing with if they hire them to come set up inflatables in their yard.

I figured calling the cops was too much. If it had been some remote area without bathrooms, as @Street Pattern described, I wouldn't have bothered doing anything. But considering the combination of the business name on the van, the kid aspect (both my neighborhood kids and the nature of the business), and the fact that he didn't even TRY to act private about it, or even walk behind the bushes that were right next to him, I figured it was worthy of some action.

I almost fell over laughing when this rolled up to my neighbor's house just now.

I'd have taken a picture of the guy pissing, preferably with the trailer in the shot. Post it wherever appropriate.

Fwiw, the pic I posted this evening was not the same company.

    I just got this message:

“Please remove this post. The individuals that you saw do not represent my company in any way. They were driving a van that was sold last year and the individuals didn't remove the advertisement off of the vans. I would appreciate your assistance. Thanks.”

The guys started getting out what appeared to be the compressor to set up a jump house. I'm not buying the story.

    Thoughts?

I'd post their note with the your post but leave it up.
You gave them a chance to refute it but until they offer proof...

You're under no obligation to take it down, and I wouldn't.

How do they know that particular van was the one that was sold? Ask for proof.

On the other hand, I just now (a moment ago) re-watched the movie The Big Lebowski. Good thing they didn't urinate on your rug.

(ETA: previous 2 responses slipped in while I was dithering over how to phrase the above.)

What kind of idiot sells a company van and leaves the logo on so the purchasers can destroy the company's reputation?
I think he's full of shit.

The correct answer again, is taser taser. Borla, it sounds like you need to institute martial law in your neighborhood.

Insert ZombieSquirrel remark about no one makes a 12 gallon stetson.
