    I stopped coloring my hair about six years ago. I got my first gray at 15, and I thought I was doomed to take after my mother, who was almost certainly entirely gray by her early thirties. As it was, my hair stopped turning gray so quickly, and I now have a nice but decided streak in the middle of my head that looks awesome. My students often ask if I did it on purpose.

    I spent several years hiding my grey because I let myself be convinced that the "kids" didn't want to see an old man rocking out on stage. I decided I wasn't fooling anybody but myself, so I quit dying.
