Are women looking at adult material??

I have been fortunate enough to have some frank and enlightening conversations with my female friends. Most of them seem to be sporadic but consistent users of visual porn, and somewhat more regular consumers of erotic writing. But I know some that are just as much porn junkies as any guy, some that are less so but still regular porn users, and a couple that claim never to use it (though all admitted to having used it at least once or twice in their lives).

 

adult material? yes women love it, erotica, where it places them in a position to be pleasured and to share the experience. Mostly though Porn can be seen as abusive and demeaning to women and I agree, I also still watch it, alone, and am careful to pick my poison.

 

I don't want tell tales out of school, but yes, in my experience, women often watch sex videos.

Okay, I'll say it: my wife is a fan of Modesty Ablaze and her videos.

 

I know that responses from females are being sought, but I have a few thoughts based on casual conversations, observations, and absolutely no scientific research .

In general, women will watch porn, but no where near the level that men do. This could be broken down by age.
Most likely to: Younger women who grew up with the internet.
Less likely, but still likely to: Those who grew with porn available on various media such as VHS & CD. I'm leaving off DVD--and downloads for obvious reasons--since I associate DVD with the development of the internet.
Even less likely to: Women who grew up before VHS made porn readily available.

In my age group, I know very few women who admit to watching porn. There are a couple of exceptions, and they are rare exceptions. I do have a female cousin about five years older than me who was a total porn freak going back well before VHS. She loved going to a certain adult drive-in theatre.

Erotica in "ladies literature" has been around for a long time. Even though much of the old erotica is mild by todays standards, apparantly for centuries the ladies have enjoyed reading about the forbidden.

 

My woman likes cheesy Skinemax porn because it has a lame story (which provides humor) and the use those soft white lights to "make everything more romantic."

 

One of our early rentals and later purchase, both VHS tape, was Curse of the Catwoman. The plot is lame, but does serve to tie the sex scenes together. Raven actually has some (limited) acting skills, while Selena Steele & Rocco Sifreddi provide the eye candy. The sex is pretty hot.

There is a song in the movie that might?? be titled "I've Got The Power." It has been used many times in other movies, commercials, etc. Everytime we hear it we laugh because we immediately think of COTC.

 

One of the most turned on moments my wife had was watching Skinemax porn, she NEEDS a plot. I think this is perhaps a big set back for women watching porn. With the internet porn basically destroying big budget porn films, all pretense of a plot is out the window. My wife has no interest in "pornhub" style clips.

 

The female market for porn is a much smaller. If the margins are not there, there will not be that kind of porn. Maybe they are there, I don't know.

 

My wife is not a porn fan per se, but does enjoy it occasionally. Her consistent complaint is it's mostly about the guys. We would rather see amateur porn, warts & all, where the woman's enjoyment is at least as important as that of the man.

I'm guessing that there is some porn more directed more to women, but it's limited and you have to know where to find it. And I wouldn't be surprised if most of it is on paid membership sites.

 

Another one of my scripts made it to reality, while another is up for Best Screenplay at the coming AVN Awards. So I'm going to go with yes.
